Need some ideas for your spring photoshoot that aren’t maxi dresses and smocked outfits? (Even though those are cute too)!!

If your Pinterest board is full of photos that feel less posed and more real life, try setting the scene with outfits and simple props that reflect your family’s everyday moments.

Think:
• a picnic in the grass
• baking together in the kitchen
• reading books on the couch
• watering the garden
• ice cream on the porch

The best photos usually happen when you lean into what your family actually loves doing. When your session feels like you, the memories come through so naturally in the images.

Spring sessions are the perfect time to step away from tradition and create something that feels personal, relaxed, and full of your family’s real moments.

Recently someone asked me if there was any part of my job that I dislike. I had to think about it for a minute, because I’m truly so blessed in this work. I have the most amazing clients, I get to tell generational stories for families, and I have the flexibility to be present with my own.

Finally I said, “Having to choose which pictures make it to Instagram.” Which, if I’m being honest, usually results in me giving up and never posting at all. But lately I’ve been trying to show up here a little more, so here we are.

And in that moment I realized something. How beautiful it is that the hardest part of my job is something so small. The real work is so much more meaningful than anything that ends up on this app.

So while choosing what to share here might be the hardest part, getting to document these stories will never stop feeling like the greatest privilege.

Campbell’s 6 month session 🤍

My favorite part of Milestone Packages is watching these babies grow right in front of me!! I meet them when they’re just a couple of weeks old, tiny and brand new, and then suddenly they’re back… sitting up, smiling, and showing off their little personalities. That first year goes by so quickly, and it’s one of the best parts of my job getting to document each stage along the way!

Today’s weather had me remembering this perfect summer maternity session. If your toddler only dreams of wide open fields and running a marathon, that’s ok, because I’ve gotten pretty good at running fast (and snapping photos even faster)! Good luck parents, hope you wore your running shoes!! 😅

I’ve had the privilege of being invited into a lot of big moments for this family. From engagement to wedding, then first baby to second baby… It’s always an honor to be trusted with the next chapter and one I never take lightly. 🤍

This Christmas newborn session felt like real life in the sweetest way. It took its time... There were pauses, resets, quiet moments in between, and so much love filling the room. Nothing about it needed to be rushed.

Newborn days are rarely tidy or predictable. They are slow and tender and sometimes little overwhelming, especially in the middle of the holidays. But that is what makes them so meaningful. The way they stretch their fingers. The way you instinctively sway and feed on demand. The way time feels like it stands still for just a second.

If your session ever feels longer than you expected or doesn’t unfold exactly how you pictured, I hope you let yourself settle into it anyway. Be present. Breathe them in. Hold them a little closer. These days move faster than we realize, and what we are really capturing is not perfection. It is the feeling of this season of life, just as it is.
