With the events of the last week, my heart is so discouraged, so overwhelmed, so broken for all those who are hurting, who are being targeted, who will be. I don’t know just what to do, but I vow to be a safe space and for my art to be a safe space for all who need it. Art has been my solace lately- making, creating, taking it in, admiring and getting lost in it, allowing it to give me a small escape from reality or some way of processing things. Photography, music, visual arts, crafts, literature; all creative expression puts on display the heart of humanity, it begs for empathy from its fellow human, it always wears its heart on its sleeve, asking you to look deeper and to feel more and to see that thread that connects us all. It’s beautiful that way. The arts feel less understood and less valued now than ever before, and yet I know it’s what keeps many of us ticking and able to keep moving. I know it's also more important now than ever for us to support one another. My fellow creatives, women/lgbtq+/minority owned businesses, I want to collaborate and support one another in any way possible ❤
I just felt compelled to share a bit of what's been on my heart. All this to say, I’ll be here, sharing my art and my humanity, just trying to make a ripple of a difference in any way I can. Please know that you’re welcome and valued here for exactly who you are.
Here are some photos I took recently, in the name of art and love.
