I happened to catch this morning’s Today Show segment with Carson Daly regarding scanning family photos.

It’s such an important conversation because like Carson, so many families feel overwhelmed by the boxes of prints, slides, and home movies sitting in garages and closets.

What I see every day in my work is this:

Scanning is just the beginning.

Creating a truly organized, searchable, and shareable family archive requires thoughtful planning. Everything from proper resolution and file formats to metadata, naming systems, and secure backup strategies.

Many families don’t realize there are certified professionals trained specifically in photo organizing and preservation (I’m proud to be a certified member of The Photo Managers, a global community dedicated to doing this work the right way).

If you’re unsure where to start or simply don’t have the time, professional guidance will make the process smoother, safer, and far more meaningful.
