It's that time of year again! 🍂✨

Spooky season is slowly coming to an end, and we're heading straight into fall and the holidays!

If you haven't already, this is your reminder to reach out to your favorite photographer and get those sessions booked! 📸

Can we talk about something for a second? 📸

When it comes to family photos, couples sessions, or documenting the people you love, what actually matters most to you when choosing a photographer?

I'm genuinely curious because I think everyone values photography a little differently.

Some people just want a few nice photos, someone with a camera who can capture a moment, do some basic editing, and deliver a gallery. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that!

Others are looking for more of an experience. Someone with years of experience behind the camera, who understands lighting, composition, posing, editing, and most importantly, how to make people feel comfortable enough to be themselves.

Someone who knows how to guide you when you feel awkward, work with kids who aren't cooperating, capture genuine connection instead of just smiles, and turn those little in-between moments into something meaningful.

There's a difference between taking a photo and intentionally creating one. And I think that difference is sometimes overlooked.

Of course, every photographer starts somewhere, and experience doesn't automatically equal talent. There are incredibly talented newer photographers out there, too!

But I'm curious...

When you're investing in photos of yourself, your relationship, or your family, what are you really looking for?

Is it affordability? A handful of nice pictures? A photographer's editing style? Their experience? The way they make you feel during a session? Or knowing you're investing in images, you'll still love 20 years from now?

There are no wrong answers here. I'm genuinely interested in hearing different perspectives. 🖤

The weirdest part of photographing families?

I actually get to watch time happen.
The baby cheeks disappear. They get a little taller. Their personalities get louder. The tiny hand that used to fit inside yours... doesn't stay that tiny.

And it got me thinking.
Maybe once a year isn't enough. 🖤
