Lux Gaia (Latin/Greek : "Light on Earth") is the brainchild of artist, Daniel Russel. I come from an artist family in Denmark and Hungary, growing up in the mystical shores of the Canary Islands and from the age of 13, I took possession of a Canon A1 and a 50mm lens and captured my views with film. That led to developing prints in bathtubs and later I got hooked on the moving image process and wor

king in movies. " (at the tender age of 18)

The movie world led me to an apprenticeship in Sweden, some college in Valencia, Spain and a good portion of my 20s and 30s in London dabbling with the experimental worlds of fine arts AV technology, VJing and lighting for upcoming DPs in microcosmic Laandon tawn. I met my other half Marie in Stockholm in 2011 and life took on the next phase of living - family, 2 wonderful kids, US of A, and a heart opening interim in indigenous Mexico .. And so, I wish to share my story and my view of this beautiful canvas - Gaia - that we get offered in this realm of life, through my photographic work, my journeys and experiences. It is my wish to arrest the busy-ness of running around the clock and places by holding your breath and get you to dive into the beauty of the simple and mundane that's all-round us. Now is the Time and This is the Place. Images that bring back The Present.. Moment. There’s a stillness that envelopes the environment when snow ❄️ makes its appearance.

I didn’t grow up with winter as a kid so the hibernation of life seemed like .. depression.. yet, Stillness, internal solitude, Quiet.. . did you feel that?
The blank .. space .

It contains all life. It just takes a moment, short, long, does it ever appear, do we ever allow it to emerge?

Although it’s been cold in my part of the world here in Ohio/Michigan in the corner of Lake Erie, our first snow showed up today..

And, it is different. It is always different, always unique . And, perhaps , always .. new?

The seemingly mundane can be the Star of the moment, all dependent on your willingness to experience Life at the level of intensity, magnitude, fulfillment, ecstasy that you are at .

It’s the eternal split moment that a photographer comes back to. Again and again. And rediscovers when all is lost but never was just that it needed to be found. Again

Even in January, we can still add color and texture to our lives and surroundings

These are some moments captured at my local river. Yes, I’m blessed to have that. The Ottawa River runs right through Ottawa Hills, a good part of Toledo Ohio and into Lake Erie being just 20 miles long, so it takes a lot impact from human activity yet retains a lot of natural beauty
