As a Napa photographer, I get to photograph some beautiful things in beautiful places. For example, last week I got to photograph a robot. Yes! A, wait, what? OK, maybe robots aren’t beautiful, but it was certainly in a beautiful place! Walsh Vineyard Management is deploying two very exciting robots, robots the promise to reduce the amount of spraying that happens in vineyards. You see, these robots straddle the vines, subjecting them to powerful UV light, thereby killing powdery mildew. Pretty cool!

Wow. The new masking and selection tools in Lightroom are mind-boggling good. I took the shot below with an exposure setting that would allow me to capture all the details in the shot while giving me lots of room to bring up the subjects and take down the sky to achieve a nice balanced look. But just today Lightroom made that process SO easy and fun. The below images show the before and after editing. Keep in mind that I added nothing here...I merely used lightroom to reveal the hidden details the camera captured. Really stunning.
