So, Storytime with Koi about his favorite photo from the weekend that wasn't taken by or myself.
Got volun-told that we had a shadow this weekend at the track for the weekend at West. Turns out it was grandson, Tyler, who had signed up for a Photography Summer Camp this year and wanted to learn how to use a camera.
Cool, always happy to help, he's a really good kid, but honestly, didn't know what to expect considering he had literally picked up a camera for the first time the day before. I didn't know if he was going to be into it and stay focused, or if it was a passing fancy and he would run off to do something else when it started to feel like work.
This kid proved himself quickly, and continued to all weekend. He asked appropriate questions for his skill level, he considered and thought out what he wanted and what he wanted to ask, and he acted with purpose when given a task. He got excited by things that only photographers get excited about, and by the end of the weekend, he was sorting photos and videos better than people I've seen paid to do it. More impressively, he was making adjustments trackside better than I did when I first started shooting for Oxymoron Photography.
I was thoroughly impressed and told him as much. He probably didn't believe me, I still don't believe people when they say I'm good at what I do.
But, when going through photos for a picture, I didn't expect my favorite wheelie shot of the weekend, to be his. It wasn't something Max or I captured, It wasn't even the best wheelie, and I didn't even know he took it until this morning. But, he nailed a Wheelie shot of his Grandpa like a pro, and sorted it himself. He didn't brag about it, he didn't run around the paddock and show everyone he could like I did when I nailed my first Dave Stanton Stand-Up Wheelie. He just sorted it and moved on.
So, TL;dr, Pics are up from this weekend, check them out, and you might even not be able to tell who took your favorite shot this weekend.
