This is the last of my OBX lighthouse photos. This one is not a panorama ad just a single frame. I went down there with the sole purpose of capturin this composition, glad I came away with three choices. I will have these for sale on my website, but I want to get them printed first to see my mistakes that may need to be fixed. Night shots are tricky and tough to see my mistakes on the computer screen. As soon as they are up I will let everyone know.

Another shot from the trip. Similar to the first, but a wider pano and shot with a different les. Would have liked to get the entire arc of the Milky Way, but this will have to do.

Shot at 30mm, 6sec, ISO12,800
7 panel wide panoramic with each panel consisting of 10 frames and stacked in Starry Landscape Stacker. Pano stitched together in Adobe Lightroom.

I hadn't created an image that I was proud of in quite some time, about 9 months to be exact. My illness did rob me of some motivation to pick up my camera. However, I decided enough was enough, and the timing of my last chemo treatments coincided with a milky way composition that I have had on my shot list of images I wanted to create for quite a few years. So I decided a road trip was in order, both to give me time to clear the chemo cobwebs, and to try and ignite my passion again for photography. My sole purpose was to create just one image I was proud of and worthy to hang on a wall. I think I came away with a couple, but this one is the leader in the club house.

For the camera nerds: This is a 5 panel panoramic with each panel comprised of 10 shots stacked in starry landscape stacker.
Shot with a Nikon Z9 and Sigma 40mm f/1.4.
Exif: 40mm, f1.4, 4sec, ISO12,800

Trying to stay positive as I roll into 2024. I would certainly like to forget 2023 for a multitude of reasons, but 2023 also taught me a few important things about myself. The incredible amount of support people have given me this past year was both overwhelming and such a humbling experience. I thought I knew the definitions of generosity and compassion, but learned first hand truly what those words mean and am forever indebted to so many people for showing me.

So here is to the start of a new year, new beginnings, new lessons to be learned and a healthier and prosperous year.
