Can I tell you a story? I warn you - you may want to pull up a chair because this is a story of greatness. It is a story of connection, it is a story of real life people, of choices made through the generations. It is a true story. It is a story of a man called Christopher and a lady called Abigail, known as Chris and Abby.
The story starts 36 years ago when kris's, mom and dad were married. At their wedding Chris's grandfather blessed them publicly with a 6 lbs. 7 oz. baby never to know about the struggle they would have to conceive. Years later after Chris's grandfather had passed Debbie, Chris's mom gave birth to a 6 lbs. 7 oz. baby boy! WOW!! A wedding speech had become a prophetic declaration and felts like a hug from heaven. In another family - a generation before that, Abby's grandmother immigrated from Ireland. All the way from Ireland to settle in this great nation. As I think about this wedding and prepare this sneak peek I cannot help buy sit in amazement thinking of all the choices that were made by grandparents and parents - the diapers, kindergarten elementary school, high school, college, grad school, etc.. all of those little, independent choices by two separate families brings these two beautiful humans to this beautiful moment where they decide before their most chosen people, with heaven, as a glorious witness, to commit their lives to one another for eternity. Just wow!!! Absolute WOW!
From the getting ready moments and first looks, through to the sparkler exit this day was chockablock fall of goodness expressed through the connection that each person had to one another wether family or friend they all felt like family! It makes one reflect and realize that the tough decisions, the hard decisions, the "laying down of one's life" ..... the intentional effort it takes to raise children and grow a family is so beyond worth it! Listening to Chris read his letter of choosing to Abbey and Abbey read her letter of choosing to Kris on a dirt road canopied by the most breathtaking stormy Horizon, it felt like God was watching and he was so very proud. With no hesitation and no pretense, these two have shown up for one another exactly as they present. An exquisite site to behold.
Chris and Abby, we have no doubt that your future is bright - not only by the integrity you both walk in, but by the quality of human connection your parents, your grandparents and now you have cultivated. Thank you so much for the most exquisite honour to have been chosen as documenters of this, most holy, of days. May God bless you every moment together!
