Alabama🎄

Join me on November 15 for my annual Christmas Mini Sessions!

This year we’re switching things up with a gorgeous downtown studio in Birmingham and multiple backdrop options, giving you so much more variety in one little session. Go full Christmas with rich green draping, bows, tinsel and ornaments—or keep things simple with a clean white backdrop and beautiful natural light.

The best part? You don’t have to choose just one look. We’ll mix things up throughout your session to create a gallery that feels festive, fun, and still timeless enough to enjoy beyond Christmas.

These are the only minis I’ll be doing for the remainder of the year so don’t miss out! Pricing will increase on 10/15! Use the link below to book!

why does wedding photography cost THAT much?

Should you pay an 💪🏼 and a 🦵🏻?

It’s actually a fair question.

From the outside, it can look like we show up for 8–10 hours, take photos, edit them, and send over a gallery. And when there are thousands upon thousands of wedding photographers at almost every price point, it can be hard to understand what actually makes one photographer cost so much more than another.

The answer isn’t just better photos.

A huge part of what you’re paying for is everything happening behind the scenes that you may never even notice.

1. You’re paying for a legitimate, sustainable business.

It costs a LOT of money to run a photography business well.

Professional camera bodies and lenses—and backups for all of them. Computers, hard drives, redundant file storage, insurance, editing software, gallery hosting, website expenses, second photographers, education, film and processing…the list goes on.

You’re also paying for a photographer who has built a business that allows them to photograph a sustainable number of weddings each year instead of needing to shoot 40–50+ just to make ends meet.

You want someone showing up to your wedding excited, prepared and creatively present—not completely burnt out from shooting weddings every single weekend.

2. You’re paying for experience.

This might be the biggest one.

Weddings almost never go exactly according to plan.

Timelines get behind. Weather changes. Family situations get complicated. A ceremony is darker than expected. Portrait time gets cut from 45 minutes to 15.

Do you really want your wedding to be the first time your photographer has encountered that problem?

An experienced wedding photographer has probably dealt with some version of it before. We know how to pivot, solve the problem and keep moving—often without the couple ever realizing anything went wrong.

That calmness and composure comes from experience.

3. You’re paying for everything that happens BEFORE your wedding.

One of the biggest misconceptions about wedding photography is that you’re paying for the hours listed on your package.

In reality, I’m working on your wedding long before I ever pick up my camera.

I’m answering emails. Communicating with your planner. Reviewing questionnaires and Pinterest boards. Helping build your timeline. Thinking about lighting. Discussing locations. Planning family portraits. Making recommendations and troubleshooting potential problems before they happen.

When photography is someone’s full-time career, their clients aren’t something they squeeze in after getting home from another job.

This is the job.

And that means being accessible and present throughout the entire process—not just on the wedding day.

4. You’re paying for backups, systems and protection.

You may never notice this part—and that’s kind of the point.

A professional should arrive with backup cameras, backup lenses, multiple memory cards and contingency plans.

After your wedding, there should be systems in place to protect your images through multiple backups and established workflows.

Because if a camera breaks, a memory card fails or a hard drive dies, we can’t exactly recreate your wedding next weekend.

A lot of what you’re paying for is knowing someone has already thought about the “what if?”

5. You’re paying for consistency.

It’s relatively easy to build an Instagram feed filled with beautiful photographs taken under beautiful conditions.

But ask to see a few full wedding galleries.

Can they photograph harsh midday sun? A dark church? A rainy ceremony? Family portraits? A reception with almost no natural light? Flash? A packed dance floor?

An experienced photographer isn’t just capable of creating gorgeous images when everything is perfect.

They know how to deliver a beautiful, cohesive gallery when it isn’t.

You’re paying for years of experience.

You’re paying for reliability.

You’re paying for preparation.

You’re paying for communication.

You’re paying for professional equipment and backups.

You’re paying for someone who knows how to handle the unexpected without making it your problem.

And yes, you’re paying for beautiful photographs.

But ultimately, you’re paying for the peace of mind that the person responsible for documenting one of the only days of your life that you can never recreate knows exactly what they’re doing.

A wedding day, seen a little differently on film 🎞️

One of my favorite things about offering film alongside digital photography is the variety it brings to a final gallery. The softer colors, the grain, the imperfect little moments—it has a feeling that digital just can’t quite replicate.

A wedding so good, we had to relive it ✨

Still not over this day — and even more excited to see it featured on Loverly.

One of my favorite things about working alongside a talented media teams is getting to see the same moments told in two completely different ways. The movement, the stillness, the little in-between pieces of the day — all coming together to tell the full story.

So naturally, we had to put ours together.

The perfect Jackson Hole wedding. 🐎

The day started with an intimate ceremony at DIAMOND CROSS RANCH, followed by portraits in the Tetons, and ended with a beautiful reception at Four Seasons Jackson Hole.

Years ago, these two met while working in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks—so it only felt fitting to return to the place where so much of their story began to make it official.

A full-circle kind of wedding day, surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the country.

Alabama friends—Christmas minis are back. 🤍

November 15th in Downtown Birmingham.

I only have ONE day available while I’m in town this year, so I’m opening a limited number of studio mini sessions.

This year’s setups will be clean, timeless, and designed to let your family be the focus.
Think:
• simple olive green backdrop
• soft green drapery backdrop with red ribbon accents
• big open windows (gorgeous light!)
• Minimal, classic-inspired styling

There will be multiple backdrop options throughout the studio, including a classic white backdrop for anyone who simply wants updated family photos, maternity photos, branding images, or portraits without a Christmas feel.

If you’ve been around for a while, you know I love sets that feel elevated rather than overly themed. My goal is for these images to still feel beautiful hanging in your home long after the holidays are over.
I won’t have preview photos until I’m back in Alabama in October to photograph everything, but I wanted to open booking early because this is the only day I’ll be offering minis while I’m in town, and I fully expect these sessions to book quickly.

Take advantage of the presale pricing now before it increases!

Whether you’re updating your Christmas card, documenting your growing family, or simply wanting beautiful portraits in a studio setting, I’d love to see you there. Click the link below to book!
