When a client feels like family, the session deserves a backstory:
Back in 2020, just as everything was beginning to open back up, I photographed a wedding at Lynnhurst Family Resort. It was poised to be one-of-a-kind, as the couple, Caiti and AJ, were from Iowa and often vacationed in Kentucky for, among other things, the great fishing opportunities (we even incorporated angling in the wedding portraits). Add to this an outdoor balcony wedding overlooking Kentucky Lake and it was just beautiful all around. During their rehearsal and wedding day, I not only met them, but their amazing children as well.
The next year, they reached out again as one of their daughters was about to graduate and needed senior portraits. It was so wonderful working with them on their wedding, of course, I said "Yes!" Over the next few years, I captured two more of their kids' senior portraits along with some family portraits at Lynnhurst.
During last year's shoot, I asked when their next senior would be and was told it would be this year, but she wanted hers taken in Colorado. We have family in Colorado, so a trip out west is not that far fetched for us. The trip was quickly set and I have to say it was one of the most unique, amazing senior portrait session I've had the privilege to capture.
Oaklee is an amazing person and we had so much fun capturing her senior portraits in the Colorado Rockies. We even went so far as painting her name on one of the cliff sides (JK 😜, it's Photoshop). But, for real, check out one of the bouquet portraits near the fence: the hummingbird just right of the bouquet was real and was curious about her flowers just as I was taking the shot.
I just can't say enough how much I've enjoyed working with this warm, loving family over the years and am always looking forward to the next session! Thank you Oaklee (and Caiti and AJ) for making me part of your family's journey!
