Known affectionately across Rutherford County as “Mrs. Murfreesboro,” Jeanne Canada Bragg has spent decades dedicating her life to family, friends, and community service. From writing a local column to supporting her husband, Tommy Bragg, during his 12 years as the mayor of Murfreesboro, Jeanne has left an indelible mark on the city.
A Life of Dedicated Service
Community Pillars: Jeanne has been a member of the Charity Circle for 35 years, a past board member of the Ascension Rutherford Ambassadors, and served for many years as the secretary of the Rutherford County Food Bank.
Education Advocate: Deeply involved in local education, she served six years on the board for the Foundation of the Murfreesboro City Schools, is a past PTA president for Mitchell-Neilson, and is a founding member of the Webb School Students’ Parents’ Organization.
Award-Winning Grace: Though initially reluctant to take on the public role of a politician's spouse, she embraced the community with such warmth and dedication that she was honored with the Tennessee Municipal League’s Spouse of the Year Award in 2014.
From Career to Creative Hobbies
Before dedicating herself fully to volunteerism, Jeanne built a diverse career path, working as a credit analyst for Dun & Bradstreet, at local shop The Cotton Patch, and spending a decade as a Service Supervisor for State Farm Insurance.
Today, she and Tommy are enjoying life as happy homebodies. Jeanne stays busy filling her time with oil painting classes, working out, and utilizing her sewing room to create custom monogrammed pieces for her beloved children, grandchildren, and friends.
