I caught this beautiful Sciurus vulgaris Aka Red squirrel on
Christmas day during a hike!

Did you know:
-Squirrels don’t dig up all of their buried nuts, which results in more trees!
-They can find food up to a foot under snow!
-Squirrels may pretend to bury a nut to throw off potential thieves.

Hey, I'd like to give a BIG should out of appreciation to all the new followers, it means the world to me!

A bit about me and my page, I'm a photographer that dabbles in all sorts of photography. Such as creative/fine art, city/landscape, astrophotography, wildlife, and creative portraits.

I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy taking the shots! I usually will add fun facts, or inspirational quotes with my images!

"Cathartes aura" Or commonly known simply as "Turkey Vultures"

The scientific name means "cleansing breeze."

They can travel up to 200 miles in a day.

Their feet are useless for killing prey, but beaks are strong enough to rip through cow hide.

The bald head prevents a delicious meal of dead meat from getting stuck to their feathers.

With their powerful sense of smell, the aromas of dead animals can be picked up from over a mile away.

They sometimes eat so much that they can't take off or fly until they digest some of their meal.

Turkey vultures vomit when they feel threatened.

Did you know brightness of red on a male Cardinal is related to diet. Male cardinals’ vivid red color comes from carotenoid pigments, which are found in red fruits. Eating more of these scarlet-hued berries, especially during molting, helps a male form brighter red feathers. Studies indicate that the showier males tend to hold better territories, provide extra parental care and show higher nesting success.

-When most deer are born, they have white spots which disappear as they mature. The spots help fawns to blend into their background, acting as camouflage
-A fawn can normally walk within half an hour of being born. Fawns do not have a smell, helping them avoid predators
