Some traditions start with a plan. Others start with a chance reunion.
In 1999, Craig, now an Upland Guide at FowlCo Outfitters, and I were deployed to Kosovo. While there, I captured a photo of him that eventually landed on the cover of Leatherneck Magazine. At the time, I knew the photograph—but I didn’t know the Marine behind it.
Fast forward 23 years.
In 2022, I was sitting around with a group of veterans at FowlCo when Craig started telling the story of a patrol in Kosovo and the Combat Photographer who captured the photo that became the cover shot.
We quickly realized we were talking about the same moment.
Twenty-three years later, two Marines reunited.
Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to kick off hunting season every year with Craig and another fellow Marine, Jeremy, who I grew up with back home.
What started as a chance reunion has become an annual tradition—one that brings together old friends, new memories, and the start of another hunting season.
