I met with my childhood self today, she came bustling out of a busy barn full of life with a dirty grin. I asked her why she was so happy. She said my Daddy and Uncle are in there milking cows and I’m having a picnic. Not a worry in the world for that sweet child. I told her I hoped she always stayed in that state of mind. She asked if I wanted to come meet the cows in line, and I told her not today for I didn’t have the time. I told her life wouldn’t always be this kind, but she’d still walk that line. Full of love, grace and a smile upon that dirty face. She asked why are you so sad and I didn’t have the heart to tell her the road that led ahead. I told her she’d struggle time and again but would rise with the sun, it’d never end. I told her to love herself and be true to what she knew. We hugged each other real tight and I told her the love that comes from above would be the same that kept her safe at night.
