Eastern Meadowlarks are singing every morning. This is one of the best years for this bird! Right now Eastern Meadowlarks are nesting and we’re starting to see fledglings.

A common bird in steep decline due to loss of habitat, this Grassland bird is safe and thriving here because their habitat is not mowed until after July 15 and nesting is over. Eastern Meadowlarks are considered an “indicator species” for healthy grasslands.

Also, being chemical free allows for plenty of food, insects, for them. We’re so happy they’re doing well here! 💛
