Whenever we do road trips I always like to find fun little adventures along the way, and this place was awesome! There is actually a lot of cool stuff all around this area but that is for another day. Technically you can drive right to the entrance of the cave but a high clearance vehicle is an absolute must (trust me)! Our rental minivan wasnβt going to cut it so we opted to park at the nearby, dead horse cave, and walk the 1.7 miles to Tea Kettle Cave. It seems like itβs in the middle of nowhere, but trust me itβs worth it.
It is called Tea Kettle because it is literally shaped like a tea kettle. It has a big opening in the middle where there is a circle patch of ferns growing on the cave floor (never step on or in the ferns). The entrance to the cave is a small separate opening that spouts up like the spout of a tea kettle. To enter you have to shimmy down on your butt and climb down a bit. It looks steeper than it is but it is totally doable and you will get dirty. Once in we got some great photo ops with the sun shining in and this was just such a unique and amazing experience. Highly recommended!
