-Brentwood Journal photographer I've been professionally shooting PEOPLE, PLACES, and THINGS all across the country for over 40 years. Started as a staff photog at a weekly newspaper, graduated to magazines, then photo editor positions for regional and national publications, all while running my own freelance business. Been a great ride but I've decided to cut back my availability and am currently only taking on a limited number of assignments. So while you are here, go ahead and take a lap around the site. Our whole culture is pretty much based on how we are rewarded for what we do (work hard and get paid; put in the time and reap the benefits; do this receive that). God's grace is not like that at all. It is a free gift that we cannot earn nor do we deserve.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9

"If by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace." Romans 11:6

Know this--> God is holy; all of us are sinners and fall short of the glory of God; there is a penalty for sin; God in His grace and mercy has provided a remedy for that penalty; God's Son Jesus Christ was crucified, died, and rose again as payment for all believers' sins.
Confess, repent, and believe. Accept the free gift today!

Meant to post these a few months ago....
During one of our roadtrips this summer I stopped by and snapped a few pics of a historic race track-- Middle Georgia Raceway, located just off I-75 in Byron, GA.
Lots of racing history happened here (and even a major "woodstock-like" rock concert memorialized by a historical plaque along the road). The NASCAR Grand National Cup Series made stops from 1966-71 before the track eventually shutdown in the mid 80's. Looking over the list of drivers who won races here and it includes Richard Petty, Bobby Allison, David Pearson, Bobby Isaac, Tiny Lund, Davey Allison, Rusty Wallace.....
You can see the outside banking of turns one and two from the parking lot of the golfer driving range that sits in the field between the track and Highway 41. As I approached the track (dodging errant slices from the golfers) and then walked to the top of the banking to look into the bowl, I was like WOW!!!
The old bones of the place are still visible but time and nature are taking over. Wish I could have seen her back in the glory days.🏁

Bought a pit pass and shot the races at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway this past weekend. Been going down there off and on for over 50 years, first as a fan then as a photographer.....
One thing I noticed this weekend was a great number of young racers and their families down in the pit area-- proof that the next generation (like my generation and every generation since back when auto racing first commenced on this specific piece of property in 1904), has discovered what a special place this race track is.
Here is a collage of several photos from the races on Saturday and Sunday, mingled in with several photos I have shot in the years gone by. ***And let's hope the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway is victorious over the Nashville political powers and is allowed to continue and prosper for many generations to come!!!*** -David

The command: "Be reconciled to God"
The how:
**realize that we all come into the world as lost sinners: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23)
**because of our sin know that there is an eternal consequence: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23)
**God provides the solution: "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
**our response: "That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, leading to righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, leading to salvation" (Romans 10:9-10)
**the result: "Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13)

It is for His glory and my good that God is anchoring me in the reliability and sufficiency of His word. We are commanded to spend time in His holy, inerrant, and everlasting word; and find a church that preaches and lives that truth...... again for His glory and our good.

I was a junior in college and whenever the Cup series rolled into the Fairgrounds I would grab my camera and a few rolls of tri-x. This is 47 years ago during Friday practice, the day before the Nashville 420 Cup race. ©David Mudd Photography
