New editing laptop has officially been ordered! 🎉

My current laptop has served me well, but y’all… she is TIRED. 😂 Editing has gotten painfully slow lately. Things that should take just a few seconds can take a minute or more PER PHOTO and when you’re working through hundreds of images, those minutes add up FAST. 🫠

I do most of my editing in the evenings after working my regular job all day, so every bit of editing time counts and lately, I’ve spent entirely too much of that time waiting on my computer to catch up with me. 😂

So I finally bit the bullet and upgraded!

Unfortunately, the new one won’t be here until the end of September, but once it arrives, it should make a HUGE difference in my workflow and help me work through your beautiful galleries much more efficiently.

Until then, just know I’m over here editing away while my laptop moves approximately 3 business days per photo. 🫠

Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

It feels especially fitting this year with all the dogs I’ve had in front of my camera lately & several more still to come.

So naturally, it seemed like the perfect time to finally edit a photo I took of one of my own dogs…

on September 1, 2025. 😂

Almost an entire year sitting on my computer untouched. If you’ve ever wondered whether photographers actually keep up with photos of our own lives: absolutely not. Everyone else’s photos come first. 😅

But hey, better late than never.

A little greenhouse, a little fall, and maybe even a little color in the flower field. 🤎

Fall minis are coming to Firefly Haven! We’ll have the beautiful white greenhouse with its warm fall setup, plus the surrounding property to give us plenty of variety in a short session. And if Mother Nature cooperates, those zinnias may still be giving us some gorgeous color too. 🌸

I had two spots open up in my dog model schedule, so I’m opening them back up for two more pups! 🐶

If you entered my original model call, you are absolutely welcome to enter again! And if you missed the first call completely, here’s your chance. 🤍

I am looking for ONE dog for each available spot. Sessions will be approximately 20 minutes.

🐶 Dogs must know a basic sit + stay — perfect training is NOT required!

🐶 Toy/treat motivated is a big plus

🐶 Dogs will remain leashed for safety (leashes will be removed in editing)

🐶 Must be comfortable around new people and able to be safely handled by their owner

🐶 Must be okay with images being used on my website, social media + marketing

Each selected model will receive 5 complimentary edited digital images, with the option to purchase additional images if available. ✨

TO ENTER: Drop a photo in the COMMENTS with your dog’s name, age + breed, and please tell me which date(s) you’re available for!

Because the August 24 session is coming up quickly, whoever is selected for that spot will need to be responsive and able to complete the session agreement before Monday.

A little peek behind the curtain 👀

When you hire a photographer, you’re not just paying someone to click a button. Taking the photo is only one part of what goes into creating the finished image you receive.

Editing is a huge part of the creative process for me. Sometimes an edit takes 10 minutes. Sometimes I know exactly where I’m going with it from the beginning. And sometimes — like this one — I spend close to an hour trying different things, changing my mind, removing distractions, adjusting little details, and figuring out exactly what I want the finished image to feel like.

I usually have a vision in my head when I take the photo, but that vision can change once I sit down and start working. I might try one direction, decide I don’t love it, back up, try something completely different, and keep going until it finally feels right.

That’s the part you don’t see when you receive the finished photograph — and it’s one of my favorite parts of the entire process.

The click of the shutter is only the beginning. ✨

All of the dogs selected for my model sessions have now been contacted! ❤️

I was honestly blown away by how many of you shared your pups with me. There were SO many sweet faces, personalities, ages and breeds to choose from, and I truly wish I had enough evenings to photograph every single one of them.

So, as a little thank you to everyone who entered, I wanted to offer you two options:

🐾 $100 Pet Mini Session
15 minutes + 5 edited images at Fisher River Park. Come get in a few photos with your dog, or let them have the whole spotlight! These will be available on select mini-session dates through July 31, 2027.

OR

🐾 $50 off a regularly priced session
Perfect if you’d like more time, more variety, a different location, or want to include the rest of the family too. Valid on sessions booked through July 31,2017.
