Nominations are now open and due by Friday, September 4th.

Twice a year — in April and September — I will be gifting a portrait session to a local family raising a child with special needs. 🤍

As both a teacher and a photographer, I understand how beautifully unique every child is — and how much love, strength, and dedication fill these homes. This small offering is simply my way of honoring that.

Each gifted session will include:
• A mini portrait session (up to one hour to allow time for sensory breaks and gentle pacing)
• 5 carefully edited digital images
• A relaxed environment with patience, flexibility, and understanding

These sessions will be handled with care, calm guidance, and space for both posed and candid moments — capturing your child and your family just as you are.

This is not about charity. It’s about honor. It’s about preserving memories. It’s about cultivating inclusion and creating space where every story matters.

🇺🇸 FACES OF FREEDOM | DEPUTY HAUN & K-9 JEDI 🐾

Today, in our Faces of Freedom series, we introduce you to someone whose service is built on two things he has always wanted to do: work with dogs and help people.

Meet Deputy Haun, a K-9 handler and partner to K-9 Jedi, with five years of service.

And while Deputy Haun wears the badge, there is another brave member of this team who deserves to be recognized too.

K-9 Jedi. 🐾

A law enforcement K-9’s job can take them into situations most of us would instinctively run from. Jedi may be called upon to assist with search and rescue, locating missing or endangered people, narcotics detection, tracking, searches, and helping protect the community.

That takes more than training.

It takes strength. Courage. Focus. Trust. And bravery.

Jedi doesn’t know what the next call will bring. He simply trusts his handler, relies on his training, and steps forward when he is needed.

Whether searching for someone who desperately needs to be found, detecting something that could pose a danger, or standing alongside Deputy Haun to help keep others safe, Jedi’s work can make an incredible difference.

And behind that courage is an extraordinary bond between a K-9 and his handler—a partnership built through countless hours of training, trust, and dedication.

When asked what inspired him to choose this path, Deputy Haun’s answer was simple:

“I have always wanted to work with dogs and help people in need. This job lets me do both.”

His service has also changed the way he sees the world. Deputy Haun says it has broadened his perspective on the hardships people go through in life.

Serving others, he says, means being someone who can help when people need it—and connecting them with resources when he can’t personally solve the problem.

Being the person others call during their hardest moments isn’t something he spends much time thinking about while it’s happening.

He simply does what needs to be done.

When he can help, it feels amazing.

When he can’t, he accepts that he can’t help everyone, learns to move forward, and reminds himself that the next person who needs him needs him at his best.

On the hardest days, Deputy Haun finds his grounding in his faith in God, his family, his close friends, and K-9 Jedi. 🐾

And then there is a handwritten note.

During a time when the community faced a possible threat, Deputy Haun was helping provide additional security when a young girl approached him and handed him a one-page handwritten note expressing how much she appreciated and supported law enforcement.

He still keeps that note in the visor of his patrol car.

A small piece of paper.

A powerful reminder.

A reminder of why he chose this profession.

When asked what he is most proud of in his journey, Deputy Haun didn’t hesitate:

Making the K-9 unit.

And what keeps him showing up?

“I feel called to do it and I love what I do.”

When asked what the American flag means to him, Deputy Haun shared:

“The American flag is a unifying symbol for thousands of communities like ours, with people that are united in their pursuit to live happy, safe, and free.”

And if he could define freedom in one word?

America. 🇺🇸

But perhaps the most personal answer came when we asked:

Who is your hero?

His answer:

“My dad. I wouldn’t be who I am if it wasn’t for him.”

Behind every badge is a story.

Behind every uniform is a person.

And beside some of those brave men and women is a four-legged partner who willingly steps into the unknown alongside them.

Jedi may have four paws, but he carries an incredible amount of courage. 🐾

His strength isn’t just in what he is trained to do. It’s in his willingness to trust, to search, to protect, and to step forward when others need him.

Today, we honor Deputy Haun and K-9 Jedi—a team whose service reminds us that courage can wear a badge, walk on four paws, and come in many different forms.

Thank you, Deputy Haun, for answering the call.

And thank you, Jedi, for your strength, your bravery, your loyalty, and your service to the community. 🇺🇸🐾

This is Faces of Freedom.
This is their story.

✨ Thursdays are for editing. ✨

The camera may be quiet today, but the memories are still coming to life. 🤍

Some days, like today, are spent behind my computer, going through galleries one image at a time… choosing, adjusting, and adding those little finishing touches that help tell each family’s story.

Sometimes I catch myself smiling at a photo, remembering the laughter, the little moments in between the posed ones, and the genuine connections that happened during a session. Those are the moments I love the most.

Photography is so much more than taking a picture. It’s preserving a feeling… a season of life… the people we love exactly as they were in that moment.

So while you may not see much happening behind the scenes today, just know there is a whole lot of love going into those galleries. 💕✨

Thank you for trusting me to capture your memories. It truly means more than you know. 🤍

Some family memories just feel extra special. 🤍

This beautiful family traveled all the way from Tennessee to Panama City Beach for a vacation, and while they were here, they decided it was time to update their family photos. I’m so thankful they chose me to help capture this chapter of their lives.

From the very beginning, there were laughs, genuine smiles, playful moments, and so much joy shared between them. It was one of those sessions where you could truly feel the love this family has for one another. 🥰

And we had an extra reason to celebrate! One of their couples recently got engaged, so of course we had to pause and capture a few special photos to celebrate this beautiful new chapter. 💍❤️

I’m always reminded that photography isn’t just about taking pretty pictures. It’s about preserving the people, the relationships, the laughter, and the moments we wish we could hold onto forever.

Thank you for trusting me with these memories and allowing me to be a small part of your vacation and your family’s story. It was an absolute joy spending time with you all! 📸🌊☀️

A few months ago, I shared a giveaway asking you to nominate a family with a special needs child to receive a complimentary photography session. When I read this family’s story, something in my heart told me that I needed to capture their memories.

Having a child with special needs can come with hard days, unexpected moments, and challenges that others may not always see. But it can also show us the incredible power of love, patience, family, and community. It truly takes a village and the love and support surrounding this family is so beautifully evident in these photographs.

My goal has never been to simply create perfectly posed photographs. We certainly try for a few! 😉 But that isn’t the priority.

My goal is to capture your story as it really is. The giggles. The cuddles. The little moments in between. The way your family loves, supports, and connects with one another. The moments you may not even realize you’ll treasure most someday.

Photographing children requires patience, flexibility, and sometimes simply meeting them where they are in that moment. That part comes naturally to me, both as a photographer and as an ESE teacher.

And for this session, that meant taking off my shoes and socks and getting right into the water.

Water is his comfort. If you let him, he could float for hours. And when that beautiful smile appears, it has a way of brightening everyone around him.

So I followed his lead.

Because sometimes the best photographs happen when we stop asking someone to fit into our idea of the perfect picture and instead step into their world.

I am incredibly honored that this family trusted me to document a little piece of their story. These aren’t just photographs. They are memories of love, connection, resilience, and a beautiful family simply being themselves.

Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your village. 🤍

There are some faces that just make you stop and smile… and this handsome boy, Charlie, is definitely one of them. ❤️🐾

This sweet red-nosed/blue-nosed brindle coat Pitbull has the kindest heart. He absolutely loves his treats, his belly rubs, and most of all, just being loved. 🥰 There’s something so special about the way his personality shines through in a photograph.

I’m incredibly honored that his portrait was named an Outstanding Photo Award by the International Photographers Guild (IPG). 📸🏆

But beyond the recognition, what means the most to me is being able to capture the heart and soul of a beautiful animal like him. Because every pet has a story, a personality, and a love that deserves to be remembered. ❤️

What a handsome, sweet boy. And what an honor it was to capture him. 🐾✨

Here’s a little sneak peek of his album.

Thank you IPG- Guilded Photography.

There are some sessions that feel less like a photo shoot and more like being invited to witness something truly special. ❤️

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing the sweetest couple at Henderson Beach State Park, and these two made my job so easy. They were absolute naturals—confident with their poses, playful with the spontaneous moments, and completely, effortlessly photogenic.

But what stood out most wasn’t the posing… it was the way they look at each other. 🥹❤️ That look that says everything without saying a word. You could genuinely feel the love between them.

I’m so honored they trusted me to capture a little piece of their vacation memories—those moments they’ll be able to look back on and remember not just how beautiful the beach was, but how deeply they loved each other in that moment.

Thank you for letting me be a small part of your story. 📸✨

Sundays are for early morning photo sessions and then some editing.

This mornings photo session at Grayton Beach State Park featured a beautiful momma and her sweet baby boy. Then it was off to Niceville, to photograph a fur baby (mix between a red nosed/blue nosed pitbull with the most amazing brindle coat) named Charlie. Charlie is such a sweet boy. And now, editing. One album down and will be sent over soon, so on to the next one.

I absolutely love capturing all these stories and helping families freeze their memories.
