What a gorgeous wedding! This sweet day was full of love and everyone was so excited to celebrate Dani and Matt.

It was also filled with silliness and I kept a quote book of the best moments of the day. I'll keep most of those secret, but my favorite quote was this one:
"Hello wife. I love you and Dani's dad is my favorite."

Should I start keeping a quote book at every wedding? I might have to start!

You can show so much personality and whimsy with fun colors and dresses and outfits that really feel like you!

I'll never push you into a first look, but I will tell you this.

The average wedding ceremony is between about 3-5 p.m. This means you are likely to spend most of your wedding day away from your partner (who, presumably, is also your best friend), and the part you do spend together is often more focused on your guests than each other.

A first look, or even a first touch where you spend time together without seeing one another, reclaims some of that time together without losing the magic of a big reveal. If you're introverted you can feel your big feelings without being in front of a crowd. If you are anxious it calms your nerves.

Plus, you might get to peek in on your partners portraits like you see Tim doing at the end of this photo set :)

One of my sessions last week ended with an impromptu food fight and it made me think about all the core memories I get to be a part of in this job.

Some are super obvious. Like clearly your wedding or your huge milestone is a core memory. But it’s the smaller ones that really get me and end up as my core memories.

The unexpected herd of cows showing up in a field.

The time we jumped into the ocean fully clothed.

When we found out it was possible to leap frog grandma.

The flyover (orchestrated) during an airport session

The time we thought Bohemian Rhapsody would flop on the dance floor but turned out to be one of the best moments of the night.

The full Bennys pizza we found on the sidewalk. Such a tapestry of sadness 🤣

What's in the fabled "preview gallery"?

Excellent question. And it's one you should definitely ask your photographer! Because with thousands of photos taken at every wedding it's likely you'll be waiting multiple weeks to get everything back and the preview gallery is the first collection of photos you'll have back to share with your loved ones.

With my wedding preview galleries I'm trying to include:
- Couples portraits. This is always the priority because I know you wanna change those profile pictures.
- Ceremony. I try not to include too many of this but I always make sure there is one ceremony shot in there.
- First looks. Prioritizing you and your partner's but I'll also try to throw in other first looks if I can.
- Family/Friends. I always overthink this part because I don't want to favor one side of the family over another, but I usually try to get your parents and at least one wedding party shot for each side.
- Grab Bag of other moments. I'm usually looking for moments I know you were excited for, shots that I'm super excited for you to see, and whatever random candids I see while scrolling through everything that looks cute!

In the end for a standard 8-10 hour day I'll usually have 75-100 photos back to you within about a week to tide you over til I can get that full gallery to your inbox!
