Andromeda is the closest galaxy to the Milky Way at 2.537 million light years away. It is also on the path to collide with the Milky Way in 4.5 billion years. Compared to our own galaxy, Andromeda is massive and is estimated to have 1 trillion stars (compared to the Milky Way only having 250 billion stars). If we could see the entire galaxy from Earth, Andromeda would be 6 times the length of our moon. Andromeda is one of the first deep sky objects I remember seeing a picture of and it is what got me interested in learning deep space astrophotography. Feels fitting that it was one of the first objects I photographed too.
