In another unreleased clip, we get a preview of the trackside insanity in the days to come. Before Union Pacific's Big Boy #4014 rolls through this location a bit later on, Reading and Northern Railroad's big 4-8-4, #2102 comes thundering through Solomon's Gap, south of Pittston, PA, with a long train as it heads south with an excursion train of people eager to see Big Boy once again. The two will meet at Mountain Top, PA, just a few moments away. Meanwhile, eager people lean out into view, at times an unavoidable fate to photographers and videograpers alike hoping to get shots of the big event.

In these unreleased (until now) 2023 clips, we're at the East Broad Top Railroad for a Dynamo Productions photo charter in November of that year. There's a little bit of fall foliage still hanging in the air as 2-8-2 #16 pulls a photo freight train past the line of cameras at two different spots near (and at) the Runk Road Bridge, outside of Orbisonia, PA. After visiting the Pine Creek Railroad on Saturday, September 12, 2026, I headed south to Woodstown, NJ - to see Woodstown Central Railroad's 0-6-0 #9 pulling a freight train for First Responders Day at the railroad. It's the first time this year that #9 has been in action after having work done to it at the SMS shops in Bridgeport, NJ. Here are a few clips from that day - enjoy!

One of the highlights every year as part of the Railroaders' Weekend at the New Jersey Museum of Transportation (Pine Creek Railroad) is the public operation of their 5-ton narrow gauge Plymouth locomotive. This diminutive gas-powered locomotive is mainly used to power work trains around the loop, so is not often seen running by the public. However, during Railroaders Weekend, everything that can operate, does operate, including the Plymouth! One annual early September event in central New Jersey takes place at Allaire State Park, home of the New Jersey Museum of Transportation, also known as the Pine Creek Railroad. Every year, for one weekend, the railroad brings out every piece of equipment that can run, and parades them for two laps around their .64 mile loop of track.

This year, I was fortunate enough to attend for a morning of loops on Saturday, September 12, with their three operating diesel locomotives. Here's a teaser/intro clip from my YouTube video, which I just posted - the link is below. Enjoy!!

Last video for a little bit from Union Pacific's East Coast tour of their Big Boy steam locomotive, 4-8-8-4 #4014.

This shot (with special audio thanks to Michael Kam), was taken on Saturday, July 11, seen exiting the famous Bennington Curve, just shy of both the Gallitzin and New Portage Tunnels in Gallitzin, PA. It's at this point that #4014 has to work even harder upgrade, as it was unable to go through the Gallitzin Tunnels due to clearance issues. At this point, Track 1 begins to split off from the mainline, and goes up an even steeper gradient to reach the New Portage Tunnel, where #4014 will eventually exit and begin it's downward descent from the Allegheny Mountains. As Union Pacific's Big Boy #4014 continues it's Coast to Coast celebration, we see a clip from Wednesday, July 8, 2026 as the massive 4-8-8-4 passes the crowds at the Tyrone, PA Amtrak station, on it's way towards an afternoon arrival in Altoona, PA and a two day layover.

BUT WAIT - THERE'S MORE. Bonus footage of the North Shore Railroad and an special passenger train is seen right after the last car of the Big Boy passes. Included in the consist is also the Bellefonte Historical Railroad Society's RDC cars at Tyrone! Bonus trains!!

Here's a clip of the heat and madness yesterday in Valley Forge, PA, as Union Pacific's Big Boy #4014 travelled towards the Philadelphia area for it's July 4 weekend day. There were TONS of people there, but as you can see, the wait was worth it for all assembled. Enjoy!

This weekend was a BIG weekend (pun intended) in Pennsylvania and the Pocono Mountains for steam operations! Union Pacific Railroad's mighty Big Boy locomotive was running on Saturday and Sunday in the region, including over Reading and Northern Railroad's trackage between Nesquehoning and Pittston, PA. I wasn't able to get out and film on Saturday, but I got a couple of shots on Sunday - here's one of them!
