An update on the organism found in the carrot...
A quick dig in google suggests they may be nematodes.
A list of the best nematologists in the world exists.
Very few have email addresses available to the public.
I reached out to the best nematologist in New Jersey. There were none listed in eastern Pennsylvania.
I tried my best to sound intelligent (they have a PHD and MULTIPLE publications!)
I hope the respond.

The importance of washing your fruits and vegetables! Whether it’s a human that will be eating them or a pet!
This was a store bought peeled baby carrot mashed by hand and in Percy’s tank for around 48 hours. Percy will be monitored for the next few days/ weeks for changes in behavior. Cross your fingers they will be okay!

From the day I found Percy! Grabbed some cantaloupe from the kid’s snack bowl and Percy went to town. If you look, on the other side of the food is a snail who didn’t make it. Look at the size difference!
