I am honored that my photograph, Hawksbill Mountain Blooms was awarded the People’s Choice Award at the Rock School Arts Foundation’s Open Art Competition in Valdese, North Carolina. There is just one day of voting that takes place during the opening reception. This is my second time receiving the award so I am especially pleased! The art show includes a variety of mediums created by local talented artists. Many thanks to Executive Director Sharon Bowman for all her hard work putting the show together.

WNC Magazine celebrated its Summer Issue at the Blue Star Gallery in Asheville, North Carolina featuring their Contest Finalists and Winners. I was honored that my photograph, Sunset Waterskier on Lake James made the cover and my photograph, Vintage Viaduct was a Finalist. Pictured with me are Thomas Mabry who won the People's Choice Award and Stephanie Sheffield (Moments By Stephanie), who won first place in the Professional Category. Many thanks to WNC Magazine editor, Lauren Johnson and Art Director, Julie Wood and all the WNC Magazine staff for hosting the event and contest. Congratulations to all the many talented photographers who participated and are out there every season creating wonderful images.

I am thrilled that my photograph, Sunset Skier was chosen for the cover of Western North Carolina Magazines’s Summer edition. Plus, my photograph, Vintage Viaduct was a finalist as well! Both images were submitted to the magazine’s annual Images of Western North Carolina contest. There were over 400 images in the competition. I am honored to be amongst the many talented photographers chosen. Many thanks to the WNC Magazine editors & congratulations to all the winners.

The blooming catawba rhododendrons accent a colorful sunset over the Blue Ridge Mountains along the Craggy Pinnacle Trail. It was a beautiful way to end the day in the mountains of North Carolina. The rhododendron season is in full swing and always a favorite time of year.

A cold and extremely windy day at Grandfather Mountain in Linville, North Carolina. However, the upside, clear skies and big puffy clouds surrounded the Blue Ridge Mountains. The wind must have discouraged the wildlife, but a pine siskin appeared, along with a red squirrel and a mountain elk that kept its eye on me. There were some blooms amongst the greenery, red columbine, Catawba rhododendrons and I think pink dogwood. No such thing as a bad day at Grandfather Mountain or anywhere along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
