A battle-tested bull Elk in the thick of the rut.

Broken points. Fresh wounds. Blood on his side.
Every mark tells the same story—this isn’t given… it’s earned.

In Grand Teton National Park, the rut is relentless. Bulls push themselves to the limit, fighting to hold ground and keep their harem. Some walk away. Some don’t. And the ones that remain carry the proof with them.

This guy’s still standing.

Happy Birthday to my favorite adventure partner, wildlife spotter, road trip companion, and the best person I know.

So many of my favorite wildlife encounters and landscape moments over the years wouldn’t have happened without her — from early mornings in the Tetons to long days exploring backroads, mountain passes, and wild places far beyond Wyoming. She’s patient, supportive, endlessly adventurous, and somehow always manages to spot the animals before I do.

These photos are just a small glimpse of the memories we’ve shared together and the incredible wildlife experiences she’s helped make possible. I’m beyond grateful to do life and adventure with you.

Happy Birthday babe — the world is better with you in it.

Happy birthday Erich ! The only thing better than having friends like you is having friends like you with a boat.

There have been so many tragic accidents lately, luckily this one ended on a good note, but a great reminder for everyone to check their brakes before attempting Teton Pass.

Breath hanging in the cold morning air… a bull Elk pushing forward as the rut unfolds.

Early fall in Grand Teton National Park means long nights, cold mornings, and nonstop pressure. Every movement matters. Every step is calculated. The cows ahead, the competition behind… and no room for hesitation.

These are the moments where instinct takes over.

A river of timeless beauty

The Snake River winds through history and nature, starting in Yellowstone and flowing over 1,000 miles to meet the Columbia. Once a lifeline for Indigenous peoples, it now nurtures a thriving ecosystem in Grand Teton National Park. Each sunrise here paints a masterpiece, as the river mirrors snow-capped peaks and endless skies. Witness nature’s dynamic artistry along these iconic waters!

Spring is one of the most critical times in a moose's life. These new calves survival depends almost entirely on their mother.

A cow moose spends nearly a year carrying her calf before giving birth in late May or early June. During the first few weeks, calves are vulnerable to predators, cold weather, and exhaustion. Mothers often keep them hidden in thick willows, moving cautiously and staying hyper-alert to anything that might pose a threat.

What many people don't realize is that moose mothers can be incredibly protective. While they may appear calm, a cow defending her calf can be one of the most formidable animals in the Tetons. Those long legs that help navigate deep snow are equally effective at delivering powerful kicks when danger approaches.

These moments only last for a short time. Within a few months, these wobbly-legged calves will be running, browsing vegetation alongside their mother, and preparing for their first winter in the mountains.
