We went out hoping to catch a nice sunset storm somewhere in western Nebraskaā€¦ and then the sky did this over the tiny town of Lorenzo.

On a day with only a marginal risk, this supercell completely blew our expectations away. The colors, textures, lightning, and structure were unreal ā€” the kind of storm that reminds you why June on the Plains is so special.

Sometimes the ā€œsmallā€ days end up being the ones you never forget.

One year ago today, near Nara Visa, New Mexico, I witnessed the most incredible supercell of my life.

The colors. The textures. The structure.

It looked less like a thunderstorm and more like something from another planet.

Even after 17 years of chasing storms, Iā€™ve never seen another supercell quite like it.

And getting to share the moment with Nenah made it even more memorable.
