I know; I know: . But hear me out: for the Great Give this year, I’m raising funds for . I won’t bore you with the details here, but if you go to the link in my bio, you can read all about how this scrappy little independent video store reinvented itself as *not only* a place to find *actual physical media* (including a handful of VHS tapes!) but as a performance venue, a coffee shop, a community hub—the kind of third space that big corporations are trying to drive out of our lives where they can’t turn them into profit centers. The Netflix algorithm will “recommend” something for you but it can’t tell you whether it’s really worth your time. Starbucks doesn’t bring in a musician on Saturday morning to play a free concert for toddlers and their parents. Dunkin’ doesn’t host a poetry reading by local authors and another one for high school kids.
