One of my goals this year is to spend less time on social media and build more on my own website, so I started something new.

The El Paso County Wildflower Project 🌼

It’s a community-built field guide where we can explore, photograph, and document the wildflowers that make our county such an incredible place to live.

The newest addition: Fairy Slipper Orchid.

If you find a wildflower while out hiking, walking, exploring, or photographing, consider submitting it. It’s easy, and your image may be featured with photographer credit.

A Tale Of Two Days

Mt. Herman is my coffee buddy. Lately, he's also been my sounding board as I've hand-hammed 12 chapters of my 1st book since the start of the week.

Lovely Distractions...

So, I've picked up a book series that I started writing over a decade ago. It never fully left the back of my mind all these years. One day, I realized it'd merely stay in the back of my mind unless I dedicated time for it. Problem was, where was I going to get that time? My photography alone used up all of my time. My long and continually growing honey-do list is proof of that.

Well, I'm now carving out the time. I dropped all of my photography "extras." Still shooting. Just not teaching or doing workshops or printing Limited Edition Prints.

While writing this morning, Mt Herman tried to peek through the clouds and say, "Hello". It was enough to get me up out of my chair and away from the laptop for a few. Felt good. Nice distraction.

This is what's left of yesterday and last night's fresh snow.

Sometimes a landscape photo lies to you.

A massive canyon can look tiny. A small rock formation can appear enormous. Add a person into the frame, and suddenly everything changes... or becomes even more confusing.
