🐸 Maybe I was supposed to find him.
Last night was a stressful one.
My mind was full, and I could feel myself getting caught up in everything that was weighing on me. So I decided to step outside and take a late-night walk around the house. I wasn't looking for anything. I just needed to get away from my thoughts for a little while.
And then I saw him.
Sitting right in the middle of my driveway.
There’s a light nearby, and somehow it illuminated this little toad perfectly against the darkness. He was just sitting there, completely still, completely unconcerned with whatever was going on inside my head.
I stopped.
I watched him for a moment.
And then, naturally, I grabbed my camera.
I've always been fascinated by the way certain encounters can feel like they carry a little more meaning than they should. And when I looked into the spiritual symbolism associated with toads, I couldn't help but smile.
Across different traditions, toads have been associated with transformation, renewal, abundance, grounding, and the ability to move through periods of change. Because they spend their lives between water and land, they're sometimes seen symbolically as creatures that move between different worlds or states of being, reminding us that transformation doesn't always happen all at once.
And perhaps that's why finding this little guy last night felt significant.
I was having a difficult day. My thoughts were heavy. I needed a reminder that I didn't have to have everything figured out right then.
Maybe I was simply taking a walk.
Maybe I just happened to notice a toad in my driveway.
Or maybe I was being reminded to get grounded, let go of what I can't control, and trust that whatever I'm moving through is part of a bigger transformation.
I don't know.
But I do know that I went outside feeling overwhelmed...
…and came back inside feeling just a little lighter.
Sometimes, I think the signs we need don't arrive with fireworks or some grand revelation.
Sometimes they're sitting quietly in the driveway, waiting for us to notice them. 🐸✨
