Remember that little color poll from the weekend?

Well, we finally have our answer. And while nobody guessed it, I think the final combination turned out pretty perfect.

But beyond the balloons and the colors, this is what I love about birthday sessions.
There’s dancing💃🏻,
movement🕺
confetti🎉,
laughter 😆, and
plenty of room for their personality to shine✨

Because a birthday session doesn’t have to feel stiff or overly posed🥳

It can be fun.

It can feel like them.

And somehow, in the middle of all that fun, we can still create beautiful portraits that capture this little season of their life.

Had to jump on the bandwagon…enjoy🤪🤣

This reel was such a fun project to create.

And honestly, having my son be the one to direct it, gave it a whole different layer of meaning. As he starts high school and explores his interest in directing, I loved seeing him bring his creativity to life.

And then, well, let’s just say I may have an occupational hazard. I can’t look at props without imagining a baby curled up inside🫣🤪.

beautiful portraits matter, but your baby’s comfort comes first. That’s why I truly believe baby is the boss in my studio. Baby will be babying, and that’s exactly how it should be. They don’t need to perform or fit into a timeline. My job is to slow down, follow their cues, and gently guide the session step by step. What most parents don’t see are the cuddles, the soothing, the waiting, and the patience. Those moments matter just as much. My hope is that years from now, you won’t just remember how beautiful the photographs looked. You’ll remember feeling supported, cared for, and at ease while we created them together.
