I haven't been behind my camera in months.

I stopped pursuing photography full time because it became something I started to dread, and started to feel more like a chore. The marketing, the constant posts, the website upkeep, client correspondence, etc., etc. I acknowledge that all of that is just part of running your own business, but it sucked the fun out of it.

Couple that with the fact that right now the world feels heavy. People are more focused on keeping it all together, when it seems like everything could fall apart at any moment. Nobody is worried about updated family photos when they don't know if their next paycheck is even going to cover their bills.

But an old friend allowed me to shoot her family again, and a new friend recently told me she loved my work and reminded me that I was good at what I do.

I don't need photography to survive in a financial sense; I need photography because I like bringing joy to people's lives. I live for the "ohmygod I love them!!" texts when a client sees their gallery for the first time. That's why I started capturing families in the first place, and that's what I want to get back to!

SO! I am going to start offering family shoots again, but at a heavily reduced rate by industry standards- $100 flat to cover lightroom subscription, gas, and time; and by referral only; I'm not spending time or money on ads or a website, and I'm not going to post every single day offering shoots and asking for clients. Clients will come or they won't. What matters more is delivering beautiful photos that bring joy and warmth to the clients that DO choose me.
