I’m so glad I had the opportunity to capture the Shelby Emergency Assistance 50th Anniversary Gala! I admit that I didn’t know much about the organization beforehand, except that I was told it served our community in incredible ways. After hearing volunteers share their experiences and listening to the keynote, I learned so much in such a short period of time. If you’ve never volunteered to place flags or wreaths at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, I hope that you will. The experience and emotions are unlike any other.

My kids love to help place flags and visit with their Pops. I admit that before he passed I had never volunteered, but I am so glad that it’s something we now do. While it hurts to see loved ones overcome with emotion, it also brings so much joy to see people coming together.

The next flag placement will be Veterans Day, and then in December they will place wreaths. Anyone can volunteer. Until then, this I encourage you to search ‘Memorial Day fallen heroes’ and take a few moments to reflect. 🇺🇸

It’s true. I could talk all about how much I love the colors + gorgeous lighting in these photos, or what wonderful humans these people are.

However, what I really want to start doing is adding “more” to these posts. I want to talk about how to prepare for your session, how to select an outfit, or clue you in on what a session with Alyssa Luna Photo is like!

Yes, I’ll likely be a chatter box while taking photos! 🥸

But I want these posts to be authentic + helpful at the same time. My hope is that current clients feel loved + valued while future clients can get a feel for my style + what to expect from their session.
