The New Black by Strapping Young Lad. I discovered SYL after Devin Townsend Project, so I was backwards in the catalog of the Canadian prog madman, but that doesn't mean SYL had a lesser impact on me. It's industrial death metal meets Prog and operatic vocals. There's nothing like it on the planet and their albums have been listed as some of the most influential Metal records of all time. I picked this particular album because the track "Almost Again" is one of the most influential tracks for me as a musician. It is a mind-blowing technical feat. I'm forever indebted to SYL and Devin Townsend for making my life so much better with this music.

️ album of the day The Holographic Principle by . It's a Fear Factory meets Symphonic Death Metal with Sagan all over it. It is a 10/10 album for me. It's an in depth look at the human perception of reality and the nightmare we sometimes create for ourselves. Epica always goes deep but this record was a whole new level for them.
