What a great evening it was with our emergency services showing off their stuff to young and old alike. With the weather being cooler, people were out in groves this year!

Molalla Fire Department 100 year anniversary photo shoot...
I was honored this year to photograph the MFD for their 100 yr anniversary. We did this in the grounds of the Buckeroo Rodeo to recreate the best we could the original photo from 1925.

Geomagnetic storm day! ...
In recognization of today's predicted solar storm and untimely interruption of communication services, here is a photo I made of the offending sunspots taken at 9:30am before the wave of unbridled energy slams into our atmosphere. Other than that, its a nice day here in Oregon!

2024 Eclipse...
Well, I managed to make an image of the eclipse. Not easy shooting thru a heavy overcast layer in where I am, but was taken at the minute of the maximum.

To make this image, I used a 500mm reflex lens with fixed F8 aperture and solar filter. ISO set at camera maximum 250,000 at 1/200s shutter speed. About 20 images were used to composite in Photoshop to help reduce sensor noise, reduce cloud haze, increase sharpness/contrast, and add some color.

Actually, I really amazed it turned out as well as it did, as with my eyes, everything up there was just a glowing ball of fuzz.

Solar Eclipse 2024... Oregon style
So, it's not looking good for the solar eclipse here where I am in Oregon. Not to be deterred, I decided to simulate the eclipse as to see what it might look like. Years of photographer skills all come together for this moment. LOL!
