CONFESSION TIME | I used to be an environmentalist (hear me out). We all know that becoming a parent changes you, but sometimes it’s not always for the better. I used to drive a Prius, recycle every damn recyclable material in my life, use cloth napkins and reusable shopping bags, and never did I EVER use...gasp...paper plates! The HORROR. I even cloth diapered my first born for the first two years of his life (still suuuuper proud of that). But you guys, I became a parent...I should say, I had more than one baby. With two in diapers, cloth diapering suddenly became a thing of the past. The Prius got replaced with a minivan as soon as we knew a third was on the way. And plastic grocery bags are a literal must have for the disposable 💩 diapers. I’m a little disgusted with myself for these changes, but you know what? My core values have never changed. As my brilliant mother-in-law always says, “ages and stages!” And she’s right! This is a season of my life that calls for convenience. It calls for using Walmart grocery for the joy of never having to take all of my boys into a grocery store, even though literally puts one item in each plastic bag 😭. It calls for the occasional dinner on paper plates because Drew is working late and the kids are bouncing off the walls and the last thing I can handle is washing dishes. It calls for a minivan that gets half the gas mileage that my Prius got (I begged for that 80mpg hybrid minivan from Chrysler, y’all). I do what I can though. I try not to use ziplocks - instead we use reusable containers and water bottles when packing lunches. I still recycle almost everything that I can, with the exception of the mayonnaise jar that I can’t wash out because - you guys - IT IS MAYONNAISE. 🤢 All of this to say, we’re all doing the best we can in whatever season we are in. So let’s get out there today, on this beautiful Friday, and keep doing our best. Love you, mean it! 💋
