Motherhood is kingdom work. There’s no clocking in and out, no lunch breaks, no vacation days, no paid time off. We’re raising little humans to be kind, strong, and brave in a world that can feel really uncertain sometimes.
We pour from cups that feel empty more often than not. We’re breaking generational cycles, healing parts of ourselves, and trying every day to be better for our families.
We get the sweet moments, tiny feet running through the house, baby giggles, first words, sleepy cuddles. But we also get the meltdowns, the toys scattered everywhere, the sleepless nights. We carry the mental load of the whole house, the appointments, the meals, the birthday cards, the laundry, all of it.
And somehow, even in the chaos, we keep showing up with love.
So when I get to photograph mothers with their babies, it feels different to me now. Because I know what her world probably looked like before she got to my session.
I know there’s a good chance she didn’t get to eat lunch because her toddler skipped their nap. I know her makeup was probably done in 2 minutes while someone cried at her feet. There’s probably dry shampoo in her hair because getting everyone else ready mattered more to her.
We’ve all said the same things a hundred times “I’m touched out.” “I’m overwhelmed.” “I’m exhausted.” But we still show up every single day without fail. Not perfectly, but faithfully.
And that is kingdom work. Happy Mother’s Day to the mamas carrying so much love in the middle of the chaos. 💚
