I found this photo again last night… and it made something in me exhale.

There’s a certain kind of light that shows up when two people forget I’m even there.
When the world softens and it’s just their laughter, their breath, their quiet little universe.

This is the kind of moment that always pulls me back to photography.
Every single time.

Why Family Photos Matter • We were a family of photographers who forgot to photograph each other.

My dad, my mom, me—we all had cameras. We documented everything: trips, sunsets, the dogs, random beautiful moments we'd pass on the street. We talked composition. We noticed light.

But we were always behind the camera. Never in front of it together.

Someone was always shooting around us, not of us. And in the film days, you didn't just snap endlessly like we do now. Every shot cost something. So we saved them for things that felt more important than just... us.
I have boxes of photos from my childhood. Polaroids, prints. My parents captured me growing up in thousands of little moments.

But when I got my own camera at 9, something shifted. I became the one behind the lens too.
And when digital took over in the early 2000s? We shot endlessly—but never printed. Those files lived on hard drives, memory cards, forgotten folders.

When my dad died in 2015, I went looking for photos of us together as adults.
I found a handful of selfies I'd forced. A few shots from family gatherings where we happened to both be in frame. That was it.

No portraits. No "let's get one of just us." No photos that said, "This is my dad and me, and we matter."
I have photos he took. Somewhere. On drives I may never find.

But I don't have him. Not the way I need to.

Then my mom in 2020. My grandmother last January. My aunt three weeks later.

I keep searching through my phone, hoping I grabbed enough.

That's why I do this.

Not just for pretty pictures (though yes, we'll make those too). But because I know—intimately, painfully—that one day these photos will be all you have left.

And I never want you to go looking and find nothing.

Here's to fresh starts. To blank pages and new planners and the hope that anchors the soul. To showing up for the people we love and documenting the moments that matter while we still can.

2025 started heavy. Really heavy. But it also surprised me—in ways I didn't plan for but am learning to embrace.

It was full of beautiful work, incredible people, and moments I'll never forget.

2026 feels like a year to lean in. To tell the stories that matter. To capture what we have while we have it.

I'm ready. Are you?

The smell of onions and garlic simmering on the stove will always bring me back to my grandparents' house.

It didn't matter if it was Christmas or a random Tuesday. That smell meant I was there, in their kitchen, with the whole family nearby, everything right in the world.

I recognize it now when my husband cooks. It stops me in my tracks every time. For a second I'm not in our kitchen. I'm back in theirs.

Most of the people who sat around that table are gone now. My grandparents. My aunt. My parents. There is no table anymore, just the memory of one.

But the feeling? That lives in my body. In a smell. In a song. In the photos I still look at.

I wrote more about this on the blog, about Christmas, memory, and what we carry with us.

My first memory of Christmas, I'm probably three years old. It's Christmas Eve in our Boston apartment. I walk into the living room and the tree is lit. There are presents everywhere—piled high, spilling out from under the tree. Teddy Ruxpin is talking. There's a beautiful dollhouse. I don't know ...

Hi, I’m Meg — it’s good to see you here.

Life has been full lately — a season of showing up for my family, cheering from the sidelines at band, football, and soccer games, supporting my husband as he builds me a brand new office (more on that soon!), and learning to soak in the beauty of everyday life.

There’s been joy, there’s been loss, and through it all, my love for capturing connection and those in-between moments has stayed steady.

There’s something about a wedding day — the glances, the laughter, the way a room feels when people gather to celebrate love — that continues to inspire me after all these years.

I’m excited to share that I’m now booking Fall and Winter weddings for 2025 and 2026 across Pensacola, Mobile, and the Gulf Coast. If you’re planning a day filled with heart and meaning, I’d love to hear from you.

Whether we’ve worked together before or you’re just finding me — welcome. ✨

Most of the time, I try to avoid the memory functions of social media and apps. While the intent is wonderful, I never get around to purging the things I don’t want to be reminded of. Today, however, was quite different.

Scrolling looking for photos in my phone and this baby popped up in a new featured section and I got all the warm fuzzies. Reliving this session and reminiscing times with dear friends…

Not all memories are hurtful or bad. Quite the opposite actually and I’m grateful for these handheld devices that bring them to the forefront when we least expect it.

Oh my word, friends, I’ve got a *paw-sitively* incredible wedding event to share with you! 🐾✨ Just over a week ago, I had the honor of photographing a vow renewal that celebrated not just ten beautiful years of marriage but also the love of f*ive *stunning dogs who absolutely stole the show. šŸ’•

This wasn’t your typical celebration—it was an edgy, dog lover’s dream! From custom designed cookies and french fry specials to adorable dog-themed gift bags, every detail was a tribute to these beloved furry family members. And if that wasn't enough, guests had the opportunity to support our local Great Dane rescue through figurine ā€œadoptions.ā€ šŸ•šŸ’–

The evening sparkled with so much love, trivia hosted by Gandalf (yes, *that* Gandalf), and the kind of joy that only humans and their four-legged besties can create. It was a celebration of commitment, friendship, and the bond that makes life infinitely better—whether it’s shared with two feet or four paws. 🄹🐾

Oh, and there were plenty of people there to celebrate too. I’ve never met a dog person I didn’t like and by the looks of the crowd Jordann and Josh brought out, not many of us have. šŸ˜‰

Moments like these are why I love what I do—when love, laughter, and paws collide. šŸ•šŸ’ ā€

I've never met two people that know how to celebrate 10 years of marriage better than these two. A week ago, I had the absolute pleasure of hanging out with Jordann and Josh, their 5 dogs, and their closest friends as they renewed their vows and threw the best party for their friends. An incredible way to wrap up 2024 AND kick off 2025 as we go back for more... šŸ˜‰ stay tuned!
