One of the coolest parts of being a photographer isn't just taking pictures.

It's watching families grow. I've photographed engagements that turned into weddings. Weddings that turned into maternity sessions. Maternity sessions that turned into newborns. Newborns who are now running around during family sessions with missing front teeth.

Getting to grow alongside so many families is something I'll never take for granted.

It's honestly one of the biggest honors of my career.

Last weekend, I photographed a wedding at Lions Beuth Park in Moberly that reminded me of something that is always in the back of mind as a photographer.

This wasn't a big wedding. There wasn't a packed venue or a hundred people watching. It was just the bride, the groom, their officiant, and their witnesses.

But it was beautiful. There was laughter. There were tears. There were quiet moments that felt incredibly significant.

Both the bride and groom had recently lost a parent, and I think that made this day feel even more meaningful. Life has a way of reminding us, sometimes in the hardest ways, that none of us are promised tomorrow.

I've had my own reminder of that recently after losing a friend, and it's made me think a lot about how quickly life moves and how easily we put things off.

We wait until we have the perfect plan.
The perfect budget.
The perfect time.
The big wedding.
The Pinterest-worthy details.

But maybe you don't need all of that.

Maybe you just need the person you love, a few people who matter most, and a day that feels like you.

And please... take the photos.

Take the photos whether you're 25 or 85.
Take them when your family is all together.
Take them whether your kids are little or grown.
Take them when you're celebrating something big and something small.
Take them when life doesn't look perfect.

Because one day, those photographs might be some of the most important things you have left.

I'm so grateful I got to witness and document this beautiful, intimate day for these two. Their wedding was a reminder that love doesn't have to be loud or extravagant to be incredibly meaningful.

Sometimes the small celebrations hold the biggest emotions. 🤍

A few important things to know before you book:
✨ Mini sessions are $250 unless otherwise noted.
✨ My studio minis on August 2nd & 9th are only $200 — these are a great option if you want updated photos without fighting the summer heat!
✨ Full 1-hour sessions are $400 if you want more time, more variety, and a little more flexibility with your session.
✨ There is NO deposit due at booking. Your session fee is due the day of your session, but you're always welcome to pay beforehand via venmo.
✨ Tree Farm Minis are coming! The date is tentatively set, and I'm just waiting on final confirmation. I don't anticipate any issues securing the date, so keep an eye out because I'll release the booking calendar as soon as it's officially confirmed. 🎄
✨ Studio Holiday Minis are also coming! They're already listed on my website, but I haven't officially released the calendar yet. That means you can see what's coming, but booking isn't open just yet. 👀

My son is obsessed with fishing, and at 2:30am last night this kid comes in my room, wakes me up and asks me, "Can you take me to grandmas tomorrow so I can fish all day, spend the night, and then fish all day the next day?"
.. sir this is not a question to be asking me at 2:30 in the morning. 😑

I truly don't think my kids know how to just... chill. 😂

We've been going nonstop.

Yesterday we had the kids birthday party, for which we rented a waterslide, along with endless amounts of cake and candy, fishing and paddle boarding in the pond, friends and family, presents. You know, the whole works... 7 hours. SEVEN, they spent going non stop.

Today?

"Mom, can you take us shopping?"
"Can we go to Level Up?"

Excuse me... weren't y'all just living your best lives yesterday? 😭 I need 72 hours of silence brother... not Level Up ringing in my ears while they suck every last dollar from my bank account to earn themselves a pack of smarties and a slap bracelet.

Please tell me I'm not the only parent raising tiny social directors with unlimited plans and absolutely no budget. 😂😩 Can't we just exist in this house for 12hrs without going anywhere?!
