***PLEASE CLICK TO VIEW LARGER ON BLACK***

Since we're on the topic of I-70 rest areas, here's another one. This is at the Sand Bench Rest Area, eastbound. Certainly not as dramatic as the previous image I posted but it's still a stunner, especially on a day like this.

Hope y'all are having a great weekend!

***PLEASE CLICK TO VIEW LARGER ON BLACK***

I've visited national parks that weren't as scenic as this rest stop on Utah's I-70. Seriously.

Anyone recognize this spot?

I call this one "Six Cows and a Storm". Honestly, naming my images is probably my least favorite part about being a photographer. I'm just not good at it.

Jackson and I found this scene somewhere outside Kemmerer, Wyoming on our way home from the Tetons. We got really lucky with the conditions and somewhat cooperative cows.

So, here's a challenge: What would you name this image?

We're back from an incredible trip to the Tetons. Jackson and I visited several locations I've never been to before including this, the Luther Taylor Cabins, in the Gros Ventre Mountains. As is customary for me, I looked for a way to frame the Grand Teton and when I found this interesting view inside the dilapidated cabin, I was ecstatic. I'd love to hear what you think of this one!

If you ever visit the Tetons and want to catch a peaceful sunrise at either of the Moulton barns on Mormon Row, just know that you won't be alone. It's even worse than this in the summer!

You've been warned...

Jackson and I are having a great time in the Tetons. We've gone out every morning for sunrise and then we attach our long lenses and go hunting for wildlife. We've had tremendous luck with moose. Bears? Not so much. Here's one of a cow moose we found this morning, taking it easy while surrounded by autumn willows in the Gros Ventre Mountains.

I have so many images from this trip to share with you and we still have a couple sunrises and sunsets to go!

***PLEASE CLICK TO VIEW LARGER ON BLACK***

It's always challenging to find unique views in a place as popular as Grand Teton National Park but I think I succeeded with this one. 😆

This morning I was walking through a grove of cottonwood trees and I literally tripped over this scene. The sagebrush branch caught the toe of my boot, I turned around to cuss out an inanimate object and immediately saw this little scene. As they say, everything happens for a reason. Or, in the words of the great Bob Ross...happy little accidents.

Jackson and I are on our way to the Tetons and I won’t be seeing views like this for a few days. I got rained on for 30 minutes while waiting and hoping the clouds would break. Obviously, they did. 😜

Happy Friday, everyone! Tomorrow Jackson and I leave for a week in the Tetons where we hope to put our long lenses to good use photographing grizzly bears, moose and any other wildlife we can find. Of course, we won't neglect landscapes. With any luck I'll have a lot to share with you upon our return.

For now, please enjoy this image of a lonely aspen tree with blazing yellow leaves below an angry sky in the La Sal Mountains.

Have you been out leaf peeping this season? I haven't...but fingers crossed there's still some color in the Tetons.

Have a great weekend!

***PLEASE CLICK TO VIEW LARGER***

Yesterday I awoke at 0500, looked out the window and saw that it was raining lightly, got dressed and went out to Arches anyway. Worst case scenario? I spent the morning in Arches. Best case scenario? Rainbows, storm light and unicorns.

It did stop raining but unfortunately, the clouds were just too thick for the sun to break on through to the other side. Still, I found this composition that I really like and I think it works great as a black and white. I'll keep going back until I get the perfect conditions.

And...if you're interested in learning how I crafted this composition, you should definitely go check out my blog for a short tutorial on that very topic. Link is in the comments down below ⬇️
