World Mental Health Day 🩵
If you’ve been around here for a while, you know I’ve always been open about living with anxiety and ADHD and the ways they’ve shaped my life.
What you might not always see are the hardest days. The days when the overthinking gets loud, the loops are hard to break, and even the simplest things feel overwhelming. I share a lot here, but I don’t share everything. Some things are just for me to work through away from the camera and the noise of the internet.
Every day I show up and do my best. Sometimes that looks like climbing mountains, laughing until my stomach hurts, and finding magic in the little things. Other days it looks like getting out of bed, taking a deep breath, giving myself some grace, and trying again. Sometimes both versions of me exist on the very same day.
One of the hardest things about anxiety is how convincing the stories we tell ourselves can be. The stories about not being good enough, not being wanted, or all the things that could go wrong. They feel SO real that we forget to question whether they’re even true. We give the negative stories a megaphone in our brains and forget about the positive ones.
I’m still learning. I still have hard days. But I’m learning that I can be anxious and still be brave, overwhelmed and still find joy. A hard day doesn’t mean my whole life is hard.
And please know this: you are never a burden for struggling, and you never have to pretend you’re ok with me. I’m always happy to chat, listen, or remind you of the things your brain might be making you forget. I’m lucky to have people who do the same for me.
You’re doing better than that loud little voice in your head wants you to believe. You’re allowed to be a work in progress, to have hard days, and to be proud of yourself for continuing to show up.
And if you’re out here trying your best to navigate this messy, beautiful life with a brain that sometimes makes things harder than they need to be?
Just know you’re fu***ng rocking it 🩵
