We had visitors in the common space behind our house. The buckskin mare has a new c**t foal, and I wouldn't be surprised if the grey mare has a foal soon.

I hope your new year is off to a great start. I'm having fun reviewing more of my favorite images from 2025 in between taking down the Christmas decorations.
This set of images were taken in Yellowstone National Park with the exception of the Meadowlark which was at the Bison Range in Montana.

Happy New Year! May we all have a great new start with the enthusiasm and zest for playfulness as these cute foals and the patience and wisdom of their dams.

This time of year allows space for me to take a breath and review. I'm so grateful for new opportunities that came my way in 2025 (photographing foals, mares, horses for sale, and the MTQHA show) as well as continuing to photograph dressage, Working Equitation, wildlife, and do photoshoots.

Thank you all for your likes, comments, shares, purchases, referrals, and most important of all your friendship.

Here's the first of a few more posts to come in the Best of 2025 (my picks). This post is of the wild/feral horses in Missoula. I know this is a sensitive topic at the moment - I'm strongly on the side of the horses being left alone. They were here when I moved here in 2020, and were here long before many of us. They exist in the area much like the other animals (deer, rabbits, mice, foxes, eagles, ravens, etc) we've learned to live along side - sort of - we could do so much better to respect wildlife and nature.

Horses are beautiful creatures. I feel humbled to see these wild/feral ones from time to time, look them in the eye from distance, and acknowledge their strength, wisdom, wildness, curiosity, playfulness, and herd bonds. I hope you see these things in my images.

May these playful foals photographed on October 24, 2025 bring you a little joy.
There were three of them that look similar as they're all bays. Unless I can see them lined up together so I can tell who's bigger, or see their facial or leg markings, I can't tell who is who.
