I first heard about Hamline Church Dining Hall when a friend told me about their family volunteering there for the last 30 years. I used to think that was just a neat, wholesome family tradition. But after capturing the excitement of those in line on opening day, I found myself craving a spot for breakfast. Little did I know walking into Hamline Dining Hall would feel like walking into a warm hug.

It’s like walking into grandma’s kitchen with eggs, pancakes and fresh hot coffee ready for you. It’s a place to meet new friends as you take your place at the long community tables. It’s a place families spend 30+ years supporting, and you can feel that support every moment you’re inside.

As the oldest food vendor at the fair (only a mere 129 years), they’re doing something right.

Whether it’s the classics or a food influencer’s latest obsession, state fair foods are always a huge hit! Call me crazy, but I think the 30-minute wait for an Amish donut is worth every minute 🤤

It’s always fun passing through the Midway and watching people recapture the magic of childhood. Whether it’s playing games or braving the rides, the Midway gives folks the chance to feel that same joy they felt when they were a kid.

Every year, thousands of people work to make the Minnesota State Fair a success. Whether it’s selling food, jewelry, tickets, or even coupon books—the list of jobs it takes to make this fair run feels never ending. Cheers to those who work countless hours, sacrifice sleep and family commitments, and somehow still smile after tens of thousands of people pass by your stands 💃🏼

I came (to the fair at 6am). I saw (so many lovely folks). I conquered (20,000 steps). My first time being at day 1 of the Great Minnesota Get Together was a memorable one!

The first time I came to MN by myself was in 2014 to watch my cousin play little tikes hockey and try skating myself. He was 5 and skating laps around me *humbling*.

Somehow it’s 2026 now and that same 5 year old is now graduating high school next year. Not sure how I feel about it, but regardless, I had a great time shooting his senior photos a few weeks ago! Congrats Sam! Can’t wait to see where this crazy world takes you!

1. Was I tempted to bring every one of these sweet pups home on Monday during our shoot? Yes.

2. Are they up for adoption for YOU to bring them home with all fees waived? Also, Yes.

Friends of Minneapolis Animal Care & Control is having a “Clear the Shelter” event running today from 12-5:30! Check their site to see who is still available!

(Peep the last photo to see how excited Gulliver is at the thought of a new family)

Fun Fact: In the summer of 2019, I called a small town in the San Juan Islands (WA) home. Earlier this month I returned to the San Juans to guide a group of lovely ladies on a kayak adventure with Wilderness Inquiry . Loved the chance to nerd out over harbor seals, orca whales, and the state ferry system while basking in the fresh, salty air of the Pacific Northwest
