Bobcat vs Lynx. The bobcat has shorter ear tufts, a more defined coat, whereas a lynx has has a noticeably longer black ear tufts, a more prominent facial ruff. The bobcat is a generalist whereas the lynx is a specialized hunter with its enormous snowshoe-like paws built for hunting across deep snow.

Fun optical fact: The blue color isn't photoshopped. It’s structural iridescence! High-altitude sunlight hitting the microscopic scale structures at a steep angle creates a intense blue/violet reflection right off its natural grey-brown coat.

The Green-backed Tit is basically a tiny, green cousin of the chickadee. They’re both members of the tit family, Paridae. Green-backed T**s are found across parts of the Himalayas and Southeast Asia, often in montane forests. Like chickadees, they’re active foragers, constantly moving through the trees looking for bugs, seeds and other snacks.

One of the fun things about birding around the world is realizing how many of our familiar backyard birds have distant-looking relatives hiding on the other side of the planet. Same family but completely different fashion sense.

The White-browed Fulvetta, photographed at about 10,000 feet above sea level in the Indian Himalayas.

This small Himalayan songbird is about the size of a chickadee, with gray plumage, chestnut-colored wings and sides, and a distinctive white eyebrow. To me, it looks like a combination of a Mountain Chickadee and a Chestnut-backed Chickadee.
