Some views make you stop mid-step and just breathe.

This is Oberg Lake near Lutsen, MN, tucked into the hills along the Superior Hiking Trail. I caught this one while circling Oberg Mountain on one of those rare, perfect autumn days; blue skies, a lake so still it mirrored the clouds, and color for miles in every direction.

If you've never hiked Oberg Mountain, put it on your list. It's one of the best short hikes on the North Shore, and views like this are exactly why.

The fog rolled in, and the river turned to a mirror.

Captured at the St. Louis River near Jay Cooke State Park, just outside the boundary by the Grand Portage Trail parking lot, on one of the most magical mornings I've ever spent behind the camera. Jay Cooke is my favorite state park, and this reflection is exactly why I keep coming back.

When I was younger, I didn't like clouds in my photos. I liked clear skies. I was dumb back then. These clouds add some great drama and texture to the photos. Hopefully I stay smart enough to never stop photographing this historic Mill District here in Minneapolis.

I had just walked from Saint Anthony Main, crossed the Stone Arch Bridge, and was heading to US Bank Stadium to take some photos. When I got to the stairs by the Guthrie, the tendonitis in my knee told me the ramp would be a better option.

This was my view at the top of the ramp.

The color in the sky, the iconic Gold Medal Flour sign lit up, and its reflection on the Guthrie Theater made me stop in my tracks. So of course, I took a photo.

The tendonitis has been mild this summer, thankfully, but it's 100% the reason I got this shot.
