One of my favorite little Bali traditions happens before the meal even begins.

At many restaurants, you’re welcomed with a small complimentary drink. Sometimes it’s ginger, sometimes rosella, lemongrass, or another local herbal blend.

It’s a simple gesture, but one that says, “Welcome. Slow down. You’re our guest.”

I’ve come to appreciate these quiet moments just as much as the food itself.

Here’s to the little traditions that make Bali feel so incredibly hospitable.

There are moments that make you pause and look back at just how far you've come.

Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with Bold Journey to share a little more about the path behind everything I'm building, the lessons learned along the way, and the vision that continues to guide me forward.

Bee+Hive Artist Collective, Soulful Escapes Travel, my photography, the dream of The Hive Sanctuary... none of it appeared overnight. It's been built one conversation, one risk, one exhibition, one passport stamp, and one act of faith at a time.

If you've ever wondered what fuels this journey or where it's all headed, I'd love for you to give it a read.

Thank you to everyone who's supported this vision. You're part of the story too.

I came home from Bali with a vision that refused to stay in my notebook.

Since then, the days have blurred together into ideas becoming systems, dreams becoming plans, and foundations being built for something far bigger than what anyone can see today. It’s the kind of work that doesn’t always photograph well because so much of it happens behind the scenes.

I’m hopeful that all of this is only the beginning. That one day, I’ll look back at this season and realize these long days, late nights, and countless decisions were simply the first pages of a much bigger story.

For now though… I’m running on equal parts purpose, coffee, and determination.

And if I’m being completely honest… I’m also pooped. 😅

Our first full day in Jimbaran began the best way I know how… slowly.

Pancakes topped with fresh strawberries and bananas at the rooftop café of Del Cielo, overlooking the bay as the island woke up.

From there, it was a leisurely 15-minute walk downhill to Jimbaran Beach, where we found a shady spot, slipped off our shoes, and let the afternoon unfold.

A club sandwich. The sound of the waves. Footprints in the sand. No schedule to keep.

I’ve learned that some of my favorite travel days aren’t filled with excursions.

Sometimes they’re simply about being exactly where you are.

First breakfast at Del Cielo.

Avocado toast, tropical fruit, fresh juice, coffee, and a view overlooking Jimbaran that made it impossible to rush through the morning.

One of my favorite things about Bali is how even breakfast feels intentional. Good food. Fresh ingredients. A slower pace.

The perfect way to begin a day on the island.

This was my view at breakfast.

The beach below. The trees swaying in the distance. The ocean stretching toward the horizon.

One of the things I love most about Bali is how ordinary moments somehow feel extraordinary. A cup of coffee becomes an experience. Breakfast becomes a memory.

No rushing.
No agenda.
Just a slow morning overlooking Jimbaran and appreciating exactly where I was.

The perfect start to the day.

Our first night in Jimbaran felt like stepping into another rhythm.

The coastline glittered below us, lanterns swayed overhead, and the ocean disappeared into the darkness beyond the balcony. After a long day of travel, there was nowhere else to be and nothing else to do except sit still and take it all in.

Some memories arrive loudly.

Others arrive as a quiet exhale.

This was one of those.

The next morning, this was our view.

Endless blue stretching toward the horizon, warm sunshine on the tables, and the kind of calm that makes you linger over breakfast a little longer than planned.

It’s funny how quickly Bali reminds you that not every moment needs to be productive. Some moments are simply meant to be experienced.

And this was one of them.

One of my favorite things about Bali isn’t just the landscapes.

It’s the details.

The craftsmanship. The textures. The way natural materials are woven into everyday spaces with such intention and beauty.

Even a simple wall can feel like art when it’s created by hands that understand the beauty of imperfection.

Bali is full of moments like this if you’re willing to slow down enough to notice them.

If you didn’t already know, I am the owner of Bee+Hive Artist Collective; a community of artists from all across the globe. In 2024, I became the curator of a small gallery located in Downtown Garden Grove, The Black Umbrella Tattoo & Art Gallery. I’m all about building community so naturally we are hosting our first Women of the Hive event at the gallery beginning next Friday, June 26th.

To continue receiving updates on this and all events at the gallery, follow us at Bee+Hive Artist Collective

Hope to see you there 👑🐝

Hi, I'm Sharon.

I'm a photographer, artist, curator, traveler, caregiver, and community builder.

Over the years, I've learned that some of life's most meaningful opportunities begin with a simple conversation.

Women of the Hive was created because I believe we need more spaces where women can gather, connect, encourage one another, and build genuine relationships.

No agendas.
No pressure.
Just community.

I hope you'll join us. 💛
