We become like what we immerse ourselves in.
This is a boiled egg. I placed it in a jar with some beets I roasted and pickled.

Let me tell you: just about the only eggy things remaining in this egg are its shape and texture... but the flavor, the color, the essence of this little guy is BEET.

This is the same in life.

Your essence - how you are experienced by others - is the direct result of what you are soaking in...what you watch and listen to and read.

Who you hang out with and listen to. What surrounds you. It is not you...but over time, it gets under your skin and into your personhood.
We are substantively changed by the people we spend the most time with and what we immerse ourselves in.

Who and what gets your full attention?
And just as important - how are you shaping the environment others are pickling in? 🙂

My friend, pay attention. Be intentional. Because it all matters.

I’m not sure what the trend is really about but I have seen several people share images showing what their life looked like in 2016. I’ve been reading other posts that have said that the energy of 2016 will resonate similarly in 2026. For me, it was an incredibly busy year. I had a photo session booked twice for every month. My creative juices were flowing 🙌🏽 It was also the same year I learned about writing a business plan. I’ve had an idea for most of my life just waiting for me to build it but first I would need a plan. I had never done anything like this before and honestly didn’t know where to begin. I asked every successful friend I knew and none helped or they too had no idea how to write a business plan because they never really needed one. I had to do all of the research on my own. I didn’t understand financial analysis or marketing plans. Even today my knowledge of these is minimal. But I was able to create a 20 page business plan as well as an investment packet. I learned graphic design and created my own logos. 2016 felt like a trance. It was a time in my life that I was being driven by something bigger than me. My “friends” called me crazy. I received little to no support. I absolutely felt that people who claimed to love me were making fun of me behind my back. That only drove me to work harder. I learned web design and SEO while building my business. I am self taught and self driven!!! 2016 was an absolute catalyst year. We’re still growing and expanding with plans for the upcoming season. We have space for a DJ first Friday of the month. Today I’m sharing this “Be Good” graphic in memory of Renee Good—a brilliant poet whose words carried gravity, grace, and truth. Her award-winning verses wove together love and life in ways that stayed with you long after you read them. Renee wasn’t just a remarkable writer. She was a devoted wife and a loving parent to her children, warming the hearts of everyone who knew her and holding her family at the center of her world. 

Renee was taken from this life in an encounter with federal ICE agents in Minneapolis, a moment that shook her community and sparked protests across the country. Friends remember her as a kind soul whose creativity and compassion left a lasting mark. 

I hope her legacy of kindness, love, and fierce care for others lives on in all of us.

Wherever I land, the kitchen is the first place I create harmony. If the spices are in flow, I’m in flow.

As we move toward the Full Moon in Gemini and shift out of both Mercury and Saturn retrograde, I’ve been paying attention to the little places where clarity shows up. Even something as simple as organizing a cabinet feels like a reset; a reminder that we’re stepping out of the Wood Snake’s slow introspection and into the Fire Horse’s forward motion.

We’re closing out a 9-year cycle in 2025 and preparing for the “Year 1” energy of 2026. New beginning energy starts in the small habits first.

“Breathe in the present, exhale the past.”
A gentle reminder as we move toward the Full Moon in Gemini — a lunar moment that clears mental fog, opens new pathways of truth, and helps us release the stories we’ve outgrown.

With Mercury now direct and Saturn moving forward again, the weight that’s been sitting on the mind and shoulders finally loosens. We’re shifting from the introspection of the Wood Snake into the rising momentum of the Fire Horse, a year of bold movement, clarity, and renewed confidence.

And collectively, we’re completing a 9-year cycle in 2025, preparing to step into the clean slate of Year 1 in 2026 — the cycle of beginnings, direction, and new identity.

This season asks only one thing:
breathe deeper, trust what’s unfolding, and let the old version of you fall away.
