How is it Labor Day already? I’m pretty sure summer just got here.
Every year I tell myself I’m going to slow down and really soak it all in. Then, somehow, I blink and it’s September, the tomatoes are on their last legs, the days are getting shorter, and I’m wondering where the hell Summer went.
I think that’s the funny thing about life. We’re always looking forward to the next thing - the next project, the next trip, the next accomplishment, the next whatever. Meanwhile, we’re probably standing in the middle of a moment we’ll someday look back on and call “the good old days.”
So maybe the trick is to recognize them while they’re happening.
The lazy afternoons. The dinners outside. The swims. The road trips. The little moments that don’t seem particularly important at the time.
Because someday, I’m probably going to look back at September 2026 and think, man, those were good days.
Which means I should probably stop wondering where the summer went and enjoy what’s left of it.
Preferably somewhere with a tomato, a cold drink, and absolutely no plans.
