I saw Lord Huron at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre last night and I can honestly say it was one of the most incredible shows I’ve been to. The set, graphics, phone booth mic, all so beautifully done. If you ever get the chance to see them I’d definitely recommend 🎙️

A little ‘wahooo’ to start May!

Since we’re getting closer to Gala on May 15th, I wanted to provide a little more info about their cause! According to their website, they are a “collaborative of non-profit organizations, agencies, landowners, concerned citizens, and scientists dedicated to the protection of prairie dogs and advancing conservation plans for the prairie dog ecosystem. The PDC promotes and conducts conservation projects, advocates for non-lethal management practices, and provides educational and outreach resources that advance prairie dog protection and recovery.” Their mission includes providing conservation tools to organizations and citizens in order to “protect prairie dogs, restore their ecosystems, and reduce human-wildlife conflict.”

I’m so excited as we get closer to continue to learn more about this organization and how I can get involved past my ‘I stop for prairie dogs’ bumper sticker 😂

Black-billed Magpie ✨

A new bird for me as we did not have them in the midwest!

Did you know?

“In early part of 20th century, many were killed as pests or poisoned by baits set out for predators. In spite of this, remains common and widespread. The Black-billed Magpie is vulnerable to pesticides used on cattle as they are known to eat parasites that nest on the backs of cattle.” - audubon. org

Another animal that reminds me of home, Canadian Geese (although they are everywhere)

Back in Minnesota, we had a local lake where I’d often go to eat fast food and take in the views in high school. It was always a fun time watching the geese interact with each other, but also when they’d chase bystanders 😂 luckily, there was no chasing involved for these photos

This was my first time seeing this type of duck and after researching for this post, I was able to learn so much!

Did you know:
✨They can lay 10-12 eggs
✨ Within 24 hours of hatching, young leave the nest
✨ They forage by diving and swimming underwater for fish
✨ They have underwater vision
