Contemporary Images Photography

I started my career in photography by working my way through college at Portland State University, doing freelance photo assignments and working in a portrait studio on a variety of photo projects. I operated a studio with a partner for a while, then in 1977 I opened my own studio, Contemporary Images, in Milwaukie, Oregon. I've been a working professional photographer for 40 years in both portrai

t and commercial photography. Much of my commercial work is used for advertising, on the web, in magazines and promotional materials. I've been teaching in-depth photography courses for over 30 years in the Portland area at PCC, PSU, Marylhurst University, Newspace and for the past 15 years, Mt. I also enjoy teaching private workshops and I've presented programs on many photographic topics to a variety of photography organizations such as Portland Metropolitan Photographers Association and Columbia Council of Camera Clubs, along with workshops in the desert of Southwest Utah, Arizona and New Mexico, taking small groups to locations off the beaten path to capture the beauty of the desert. My Understanding of how to use light gives a natural quality to my images. When doing portraiture I like to bring out my client's personality by using a relaxed atmosphere and fun environment and I work to suit each client's needs, whether it's a building interior, a necklace, or a senior portrait.
