Ten years of my business this year ✨
It started with a purple film camera in my childhood. Next came a digital camera from a rummage sale followed by my blue Olympus that was probably the gateway to this journey. It was a hobby that turned into extra income in college and quickly became so much more than I anticipated.
I’ve always been the hopeless romantic, the dreamer, the deep feeler. And that’s how I know this work was made for me. Whether it’s my own life or someone else’s, I see it all and I feel it all and I want every moment of life to be remembered exactly how you felt it.
It hasn’t always been easy. This journey has come with self-doubt, constant self-education, fear, stress, and a whole lot of diligence. But it’s also brought joy, freedom, pride in what I’ve built, and excitement for where I’m going.
As I look ahead, I imagine my art evolving—different, but fundamentally the same. I want a little less structure, to be more hands-off in your wedding days. I want to practice the patience to allow moments to unfold naturally. I want to relieve myself from the pressure to “make your day beautiful” and remind myself my job is to document it as is, no one is expecting me to curate it. I want to keep learning new techniques, exploring new gear, and not be afraid to fail along the way. I want to create work I’m deeply proud of. I want to recognize my own abilities and never let someone else’s success diminish my own.
A whole decade in, and it still feels like we’re just beginning. Thank you for following along, and for trusting me with life’s most precious moments — truly the honor of a lifetime.
xoxo,
Dev
